A skilled Marvel fan edited a scene from Avengers: Infinity War to give Iron Man some striking black armor, and it works surprisingly well.

The world of fan art will seemingly never cease to find new and creative ways to exhibit its ideas. There are even less common types of creativity showing themselves these days. Where one artist may draw an epic piece mashing up characters from Star Wars and Marvel, someone else might instead choose to do something a little less straightforward with Iron Man in Avengers: Infinity War.

That's where Reddit user "MCU_scenes" comes in. They produced what appears to be a flawless edit of a scene from Avengers: Infinity War, turning Tony Stark's flashy new Iron Man armor into something decidedly darker and maybe a bit broodier. The artist managed a perfect color correction on the shiny hero suit that transforms its entire look with only the tiniest of changes, and it really proves just how much a simple color scheme can affect a shot.

The scene in question shows Iron Man facing off against Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian, two of Thanos' children sent to Earth as harbingers of the big purple guy's arrival. While Iron Man's nanotech armor sports a muted red color in the Avengers: Infinity War, the edit by "MCU_scenes" changes it seamlessly to a shade of jet black. What's particularly impressive about the fan version is how the color change not only doesn't bleed into the rest of the scene but also perfectly keeps up while the armor materializes around Stark in an almost liquid form. Maybe it would have fit well into the cut scene of Doctor Strange wearing Iron Man armor (no, really).

Other users on the r/MarvelStudios subreddit were quick to draw comparisons between the newly recolored suit and Black Panther, with others noting its less obvious similarities to War Machine. It makes sense, especially with the contrasting black and silver colors shared by both Black Panther and this fan edit. But it's also worth mentioning that this isn't the only time Tony Stark has been seen in black armor, as pointed out by several commenters. The Model 7 stealth armor seen in the comics is one of the closest references, though it's still a bit bulkier than the nanotech seen in Avengers: Infinity War.

Fan-made art featuring Iron Man's armor is surprisingly popular, with some fans even going so far as to create an armor set for The Punisher. Considering just how many different suits Tony Stark has used throughout the comics and movies, it makes sense that it would be a popular genre of fan art. It's almost like when fans envision their own original character within the universe of their favorite stories, except in this case, it's an inanimate object. Though, to be fair, maybe they're also adding in their own fan-made Jarvis-style A.I. butlers in the suits as well.

Fan-made art is a great way for audiences to connect with the things they love, whether through simple paintings or full-on recreations like a point-and-click Mass Effect adventure game, and it's more prevalent today than ever before. So make sure to give props to artists everywhere for keeping that link alive, though maybe keep an eye out for an "18+" tag first. Nobody wants to make that mistake twice.

Avengers: Infinity War is now available on Disney Plus.
