Players going through Final Fantasy 8 will want to know where to get Siren and how all of her skills work.

Siren is one of the Guardian Forces in Final Fantasy 8. She is also one of the first Guardian Forces that players are able to unlock. Of the available options, Siren is the least powerful offensive Guardian. However, she is one of the best status effect summons in the game.

Gamers will want to have her available, as she can help them immensely in difficult fights. Siren's ability to afflict enemies and heal other characters makes her one of the more effective Guardian Forces in the game. Players that are having trouble finding her should follow the steps in this guide.

Gamers will be able to obtain Siren as a drop from two different locations. The first is from the Dollet Radio tower after defeating Elvoret, one of the main bosses in the game. Elvoret is the first true boss players will need to defeat, so the fight should not be very difficult.

There are two main things to keep in mind while fighting the boss. The first is to utilize Selphie's double casts to dish out magic damage and heal the other characters. Zell should be used as the primary melee DPS, dealing a lot of damage once his limit break triggers. Siren will not always drop from the boss, but it is more likely than not that she will. Gamers that do not find her after defeating Elvoret can pick up the Guardian in the final dungeon.

Siren has a chance to drop from Tri-point, a boss found in the Ultimecia Wine Cellar in Ultimecia's Castle at the end of the main storyline. Tri-point is one of eight Ultimecia minions that gamers will need to defeat before the final boss fight. To reach Tri-point, players will need to step on the fallen chandelier after fighting Sphinxaur.

Tri point will have either a fire or ice weakness, which differs each playthrough. If the boss is scanned, gamers will know which attacks to use against it. The boss has two main attacks, Mega Spark and Onrush. Mega Spark does a moderate amount of damage and is often used by the boss as a counterattack.

Onrush is a devastating attack that will one hit kill almost any character. Tri-point will scan a target on the first turn and attack that target the next, dealing upwards of 9,000 damage per attack. Gamers will need to be prepared to absorb thunder damage from the Mega Spark. Once players know what type of elemental weakness Tri-point has, they can spam melee and elemental attacks to defeat the monster. Unfortunately, Tri-point is the last boss to drop Siren. Gamers that did not receive her in either of the draws are out of luck until the next playthrough.

Siren's main attack, Silent Voice, silences enemies while dealing a slight amount of elemental damage to foes. She will not kill very many enemies using her primary attack, but silencing enemies is crucial during the more difficult boss fights later in the game. The Guardian Force will learn different status afflictions as well as defensive skills through the junction system. Siren will also learn a status cleanse ability that will heal all characters. One of her other learned abilities allows her to craft status affliction spells using loot from monsters.

Perhaps more importantly, Siren offers a permanent magic boost that increases each time she levels up. Her most functional ability, called Move-Find, identifies unseen save and draw locations during each step in the campaign. For players that do not get her as a drop early in the game, this is a huge deal. Less save points will mean more re-play time after an untimely death before a checkpoint. Final Fantasy 8 was originally released in 1999 at a time before autosaves and saving in the menu were options. Additionally, Move-Find allows Siren to create stones, tools, and use cleansing magic.

It will take about 17 seconds to summon Siren. Summoning Siren will reduce Carbuncle's compatibility by -10 and all other Guardian Forces by -1.6. Her ability charge time can be lessened if players improve her compatibility before she is summoned. This can be achieved by casting the same status spells as Siren. Gamers can use LuvLuvG and Silence Powder to increase her compatibility as well. Battle speed will also have an effect on her charge time. Edea is the most compatible character with Siren, so players will want to junction Siren with her.

At level 100, Siren has 5,350 health and 2,559 attack power. These are not impressive numbers. However, Siren's role is not as an attacker or defender. She should be used to silence and afflict enemies, as well as cleanse characters during a fight.
