One of the members of the two-person studio Peachy Keen Games has run into quite a predicament at a hospital. Creative Director Kells of Calico just had a child, and the name of her newborn is legally 'Korn,' which is not what she intended.
Calico is a cat-cafe game that is available on Switch, Xbox, and PC. The game allows players to befriend animals, create and collect clothing items, play mini-games, and more. The game launched a few months ago in late December, and Kells had her newborn in April of 2021. But she recently shared that the hospital mixed up the name of her child, and the story has gone viral.

Apparently, the hospital may have attempted to double-check the name with Kells at some point, but Kells says that she was obviously in some distress and did not notice that the name was incorrect. Her child's name is supposed to be Kora, which is not inspired by The Legend of Korra anime, according to Kells. So when the birth certificate arrived, and the Calico developer saw the Korn name on the legal document, she was very surprised.
The Twitter post has nearly 150,000 interactions between likes, comments, and retweets. The story has gone far beyond the world of a small indie developer. Kells has since updated the story saying that she believes that she will be able to get the name fixed as long as they act quickly. The whole story is rather wild, but hopefully, baby Korn can be legally changed to Kora soon.
Calico is out now on Switch, PC, and Xbox.
