Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players uncover a teaser that could be hinting at the Double Tap perk’s long-awaited return to Zombies.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans have been waiting patiently for their favorite perks to return, and Double Tap is arguably the most anticipated addition. Fortunately, it could be debuting sooner rather than later, as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans have found a teaser that may hint at the perk’s comeback.

For some time now, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies community has known that Double Tap would eventually be added. This is due to a series of leaked perk jingles that were seen in the game’s files at launch. The perks in question were Tombstone, Mule Kick, PhD Flopper, and Double Tap. Considering that Tombstone has already been added to the game via its inclusion in Firebase Z, Double Tap's inclusion is likely.

However, despite believing that Double Tap will eventually join Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s perk lineup, Zombies fans have no idea when it will be coming. A discovery from Reddit user Mikethesavage92 could change this, though, as a poster depicting the iconic perk has been found in a new multiplayer maps. Specifically, the desert-based map Diesel holds the teaser, and there is one intriguing thing to note about the poster’s design.

Treyarch has chosen to include the original Double Tap logo and on the bottle, possibly indicating that the perk will take on its classic functionality as opposed to its 2.0 form. Originally, Double Tap only increased players fire rate. Ever since Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, however, the perk has split every shot fired into two, essentially doubling damage. As such, if this perk does arrive with Season 4’s Survival map like this teaser may suggests, it could be noticeably weaker than the Double Tap that Zombies fans have grown accustomed to.

It is also possible that the perk starts as the original Double Tap but can be upgraded to Double Tap 2.0 via Aetherium Crystals. Through the upgrade tiers, players may be able to evolve the perk from its original form to the superior version, making the Crystals worth grinding for once again. Regardless, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War needs Double Tap, as the perk would instantly make Assault Rifles and Tactical Rifles far more usable inside the game. With the classes being extremely weak when compared to Shotguns, buffing them via Double Tap would add plenty of variety to the meta.

It is worth noting that this could simply be Treyarch re-using assets, meaning that players should not be completely certain that Double Tap is coming until it is officially confirmed. For those that want to see the poster themselves, it can be found in the Diesel map’s gas station.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
