With Nier Replicant's recently release, fans and critics alike have given Nier Replicant more generous reviews than the original. However, one item that bothers some fans has been its framerate being capped at 60 FPS. It seems this issue has been alleviated by a fan-made mod developed within a week of the game's launch.

Nier Replicant, the remastered prequel to the widely popular Nier Automata, had a dramatic framerate increase from its original but is still capped at 60 FPS at the time of launch. With the work of mod developers Ersh and SkacikPL, this is no longer an issue. By downloading a .dll file, players are able to experience the game the way their PC is able to handle it. This is exciting to players looking to set their machines loose on a game that has a much-improved look over its predecessor.

Users can set what they believe their PC can display the FPS cap at, with the mod's authors mentioning that it can be set up to 360 FPS, and it will still look good on a 144 Hz screen. Users need to download the .dll file and copy the said file into the game directory on the same level as the executable file.

Players that place the .dll in the correct directory should then edit the value "fFPSCap" inside the "dinput8.ini" file. This will allow users to set the cap at which they think their PC can handle it. While the game can run at its set framerate per second, some elements will always run at the designated 60 FPS, such as the user interface. These areas can not have any animation smoothing, according to the authors of the mod.

As with any mod, the player should be aware that there can be some unintended effects. The authors of the mod mention they have not played far through Nier Replicant with the mod active, and that anyone experiencing any odd issues should notify them.  However, the fact that this mod has come out within a week of the game's release is expeditious of the authors.

While Nier Replicant was not as warmly received in its PS3 iteration, known as Nier Gestalt, the remaster has been praised by critics and fans alike. With mods that improve the game's look for those with the hardware and graphical improvements overall to the game itself, Nier Replicant is a game worthy of attention.
