Mario Kart Tour's next event pits two Nintendo heavyweights against one another as Bowser and Donkey Kong go head-to-head in a Team Rally.

The two heavyweights of Nintendo are going head-to-head in the latest Team Rally in Mario Kart Tour. Starting on May 4, all drivers in Mario Kart Tour will be split into two teams: Team Donkey Kong or Team Bowser, and players will battle to collect more tokens for their side.

As Mario Kart Tour passes 200 million downloads, this latest Team Rally is a nod to the franchise's roots. With each team represented by two of Nintendo's oldest mascots, fans are guaranteed to have a tough time choosing their allegiance. However, regardless of the actual outcome, all players will receive a limited edition badge, along with coins and rubies as rewards.

The split between Donkey Kong and Bowser more or less represents a clash of good guys versus bad guys. On Donkey Kong's team, fans can expect Mario (and all his variations), Yoshi, Daisy, Diddy Kong, and the like. For Bowser, his entire retinue including the Koopalings, Waluigi, Birdo, Wario, and more. Interestingly, Princess Peach is slated on Team Bowser, probably owing to the fact that she is constantly being captured by him.

This is one of the few tours that has featured a Team Rally before. The first of which was the obvious Mario vs. Luigi match-up, which was then followed by Daisy vs. Peach. Now, with Donkey Kong and Bowser taking the stage, a much more obvious dichotomy between hero and villain has formed. Like this week's Sydney Tour, the Donkey Kong vs. Bowser Team Rally will likely usher in a slew of new items into the shop as well as an opportunity to earn new stars and badges.

Mario Kart Tour is available for Android and iOS devices.
