Monster Hunter Rise has some fantastical armor sets and the jelly armor set may be one of the more unique, if strange, sets in the game.

Among the wide variety of armor sets in Monster Hunter Rise, there are of course armor sets that are inspired by and crafted from materials from specific monsters. However, there are also some sets that are not based on any specific monster. The Jelly armor set in Monster Hunter Rise is one such instance.

The key items when it comes to crafting the Jelly armor are cutejellies and gothjellies. The former is used to craft the low rank version of the set, while the latter is used to craft the high rank version of the set. Both are obtained in essentially the same way. Players will need to head to the Buddy Plaza and talk to Felyne Chief Kogarashi. With him players can make use of the Meowcenaries, in which buddies are sent off to collect resources.

Players will need to choose 4 different buddies to send off and select a location they should explore. Each location has a low and high rank version, but the high rank versions will not unlock until the hunter themselves has reached high rank in the Hunter's Hub.

For the cutejellies and gothjellies, players will want to watch out for a sparkle by the Lava Caverns. If they see one and select it, they will be given a choice of several routes to send the Meowcenaries on. They'll want to select a route with an image of a fish that also has a sparkle to it. When the Meowcenaries return from that location they will bring back cutejellies if they visited the low rank Lava Caverns, and gothjellies if they visited the high rank lava caverns. They'll pick up cutejellies in the high rank version too sometimes, so it might take a few trips to get all the gothjellies necessary for the high rank armor.

To craft the low rank Jelly armor set, players will need the following in total.

  • 5 Cutejellies
  • 2 Tetranadon Hides
  • 2 Tetra Carapaces
  • 1 Somnacanth Fin
  • 1 Mizutsune Fin
  • 2 Spongy Hides
  • 4 Aqua Sacs
  • 2 Monster Bones L
  • 2 Monster Bones+
  • 1 Lightcrystal
  • 4 Icium
  • 4 Dragonite Ore

Players will want to obtain the cutejellies with the method above. The 6 resources that follow the jellies on the list are all monsters parts. The first two, the Tetranadon hides and carapaces, as the names suggest, come from Tetranadon. They have a 24% chance and 32% chance respectively of being rewarded when completing a low rank Tetranadon hunt. They can be guaranteed by breaking, again low rank, Tetranadon's arm and carapace respectively.

A Somnacanth fin has a 14% chance of being rewarded when completing a low rank Somnacanth hunt, but has an 80% chance of dropping if Somnacanth's head fin is broken. A Mizutsune fin has a 65% chance of dropping from breaking a low rank Mizutsune's head. There is a 60% chance of getting one from breaking its dorsal fin instead. Breaking the dorsal fin also has a 10% chance of awarding two fins. It also has a 32% chance of being rewarded from capturing a low rank Mizutsune.

A spongy hide has a 26% chance of being awarded at the end of a Royal Ludroth hunt. It also has a 60% chance of dropping if the mane of the Royal Ludroth is broken. Aqua sacs can be obtained from hunting Royal Ludroth or Tetranadon, but have a higher drop chance with the latter. There is a 24% chance of receiving one for finishing a Tetranadon hunt and a 70% of getting one when breaking Tetranadon's body.

After the monster resources come the bones. Monster bone L is most often obtained as a quest reward from 4 to 6 star village quests and 3 star hub quests so it's fairly likely players will already have the necessary Monster bones L if they have the rest of the required monster materials. Monster bones+ are rewarded the same way, but are a little rarer and can also drop from high rank hub quests.

Finally there is the ore. Lightcrystals can be obtained from ore nodes in the Flooded Forest, Icium is obtained from ore nodes in the Frost Islands, and dragonite ore can be found from ore nodes in the low rank Lava Caverns and from high rank ore nodes generally. Once players have obtained all the necessary materials, they can craft the full Jelly set which has the following skills:

  • Divine Blessing Level 2: Has a chance of reducing damage received by 30%
  • Blast Attack Level 2: Increases blast buildup by 10% and blast attack by 2
  • Partbreaker Level 1: Monster parts take 10% more breaking damage (overall damage remains the same, the parts just break earlier)

To craft the high rank Jelly armor, players will need, in total:

  • 5 Gothjellies
  • 2 Tetranadon Hides+
  • 2 Tetra Carapaces+
  • 1 Somnacanth Fin+
  • 1 Mizutsune Fin+
  • 2 Spongy Hides+
  • 4 Torrent Sacs
  • 4 Monster Hard Bones
  • 1 Novacrystal
  • 6 Gracium
  • 8 Carbalite Ore

All of these materials are essentially just the high rank versions of the low rank materials discussed in the previous section. Players will just need to fight high rank monsters and collect resources in high rank maps although the drop rates for the Tetranadon hides+ and carapaces+ remain the same as they did in low rank. The Somnacanth Fin+ also has the same drop rate as the low rank fin.

The Mizutsune fin+ drop rate is a little bit different. It can now only be obtained from breaking Mizutsune's fins and the drop chance from breaking the head has been slightly reduced to 60%. The spongy hides+ are also a little bit different, but only in terms of the drop chances being marginally different so players will still want to hunt Royal Ludroth the same way they did in low rank. However, high rank Royal Ludroth's shiny drops have a 50% chance of being spongy hide+, a 15% increase from the low rank spongy hide. The torrent sacs are the same as the aqua sacs in the sense they can be obtained from both Royal Ludroth and Tetranadon, but are more common drops from Tetranadon.

Monster hardbones are rewarded for completing high rank quests. Novacrystals can be found uncommonly from high rank Flooded Forest ore nodes and are also rewards for completing some optional quests. Gracium can be obtained from (usually uncommon) ore nodes in high rank Frost Islands. Finally, Carbalite ore is just generally obtained from high rank ore nodes such as those in the Shrine Ruins.

Once players have all the materials, they can craft the high rank Jelly armor which has the following skills:

  • Divine Blessing Level 3: Has a chance to reduce damage received by 50%
  • Blast Attack Level 3: Increases blast buildup by 20% and increases blast attack by 5
  • Partbreaker Level 3: Monster parts take 30% more breaking damage

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch with a PC release slated for 2022.
