With an upcoming update for Nintendo's Animal Crossing: New Horizons, fans rumors are flying around that new villagers may be coming to the island.

Nintendo's Animal Crossing: New Horizons has recently shared news online about a new ACNH game update slated to be released this April 28, 2021. The update will bring back past seasonal events, which were first introduced when the game launched in 2020, and will also bring in some new twists into the life simulation title. With so many fans likely anticipating the development team's next steps, players were quick to notice a detail from the promotional material that may hint that new Animal Crossing villagers may arrive on the island alongside the update.

The April 28 game update brings with it a plethora of previous seasonal events that players may have missed if they got into the game a bit later than its launch date. This includes May Day, International Museum Day, and the Wedding Season, where fans can meet Reese and Cyrus from the 3DS title, Animal Crossing: New Leaf. However, with all of the updates ACNH has introduced to the game, none of them involved a new villager who can move into the player's deserted island getaway.

On Reddit, user creamypockets took a screenshot of the official Nintendo site to show off one detail that many fans may not have noticed. In the photo they shared, a villager stands in front of an Asian-themed house with many different items strewn about the lawn. The image was used in the game's official site to promote the seasonal items that will arrive alongside the April 28 update. Creamypockets opened the discussion about new villagers possibly arriving by stating that none of the 497 villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons has the same house facade as the one in the photo.

Replies on the thread agreed with creamypockets's statement, stating that since the devs recently added new villagers through the introduction of the Sanrio Amiibo cards, it is very possible that more will arrive during the update. However, others also pointed out that the April 28 update may only introduce new options in customizing house exteriors, and may not include newcomers to the player's island.

Even so, fans are likely still highly anticipating the Animal Crossing: New Horizons update, given the many activities it will have in store in the coming months. With Nintendo constantly creating content for its players, inside and outside of the title, it is no wonder that Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains to be one of the most played video games on the Nintendo Switch.
