Marvel's Avengers has had a few glaring issues, but progress has been made since launch. Here are a few of the best ways the game has improved so far.

When the Marvel’s Avengers game first launched, it met with mixed reviews, mostly leaning towards negative. Players were disappointed in its playability and character selection, along with a variety of other game bugs and glitches. With the onslaught of negative reviews and customer complaints, Crystal Dynamic, Sony, and Square Enix realized they had to do something.

The developers have since been gradually launching improvements and bug fixes since 2020. The biggest improvements have happened on the PS5, and can be downloaded for free on PS4. Now, the game is definitely better than when it first came out, though many believe it needs a complete relaunch. Here are some of the biggest improvements in the game so far.

5 New Heroes And Villains

In addition to the original heroes, Clint Barton as Hawkeye has joined the list of playable characters. Hawkeye will have his own story now, called Operation Hawkeye: Future Imperfect. This campaign will take the player to a new biome in the Wasteland. This new character addition will also bring new villains and enemies, such as the campaign's Cargo Runner Synthoid. These new enemies will drop items after being killed, which players can collect and put into inventory.

This new Hawkeye campaign brings in a character called Maestro, a comic book villain with immense power. A twisted version of the Hulk created in a different timeline, Maestro has all the brains of Bruce Banner and and brawn of the Hulk. In addition to Hawkeye, Sony has also announced that Black Panther will be a playable character eventually. Maybe these new characters will spice up the game and bring more gamers to the dwindling player base.

4 Faster Load Times

When the game first launched, load time was a huge issue. Now players can load right into their location of choice and start playing, cutting down on time wasted loading and running around. Before, players complained of having infinite load times and being stuck on loading screens for hours. The load times after dying or falling were long and aggravating.

If players missed a jump, the character would be in slow motion as players waited for a chance to try again. Hopefully, the ability to jump right into the game is enough to fix this significant issue because as of now, some players are still complaining about it.

3 Cross-Generation Capabilities

An issue that players used to face was the inability to play with people who didn't have the same generation of console. Now, with the updates done in March of 2021, friends can play together across consoles. PS5 players can now find that they are able to play with PS4 players. Xbox series X|S will be compatible to play with Xbox One player.

This update brings a much-needed versatility to the game. With this change, we might see more players engaging in multiplayer missions and team missions since they now have the option to play with friends on different consoles.

2 Haptic Feedback And Audio

Now that the PS5 is out, the game makers have rolled out improvements to utilize the features it offered. In the PlayStation 5 update, developers made an attempt to improve the haptic feedback and 3D audio technology (as well as its audio in general) in an attempt to improve its immersion quality. Trying to utilize the DualSense controller on the PS5 as much as possible, there is now customized haptic feedback for each character and their Heroic abilities.

Any ability that uses the adaptive triggers has been enhanced and modified. The 3D audio has improved significantly as well. If one uses compatible headphones, they can hear the fight happening all around, making it feel as realistic as possible. In addition to the 3D audio improvements, all audio has been tweaked significantly. Before, players could see characters' lips move with delayed sound.

1 Better, More Immersive Graphics

In the PS5 version of the game, the destruction quality, frame rate and textures have all been improved, making it superior to the PS4 version. With these improvements, Sony has made the game more immersive and detailed. Now, players can see every detail of a character's power abilities, making it look shinier and more detailed. Take Thor's lightning for example. In addition to the Heroics being upgraded, the destruction quality is significantly better. Now, when the Hulk goes on a tirade, the objects he smashes don't just jump out of frame and disappear. Players can see what happens to the objects as he strikes his mighty blows.

With the upgraded frame rate, the whole game feels less grainy and distorted.  On the PS5 players have the option to choose the 4k resolution mode, which is a vast improvement from the 30 Frames Per Second (FPS) checkerboard 4K it used to run on both PS4 and PS5. Also, players can select a high performance mode, which will jump the frame rate up to 60 FPS checkerboard 4k. Its normal run mode is 60 FPS at 1080p.
