Hitting the level 70 cap in Borderlands 3 isn't where things end. There are plenty of great things you can do afterwards.

In the chaotic world of Borderlands 3, players will have to find a way to level up fast in order to survive the madness. It's once you've gotten to the top of the mountain that things get a little confusing, most importantly, What now?

Even though there isn't an ingrained path to follow once you've beaten the main game, the Borderlands universe has always been at its best when you travel off the path most travelled. In the post-game, there are a ton of challenges that push even the most experienced player to new heights, making sure you never get tired of the wild ride.

10 Vault Hunter Mode

Only available after you complete the main story of the game, this is Borderlands 3 answer to New Game Plus. Scaling the entire game and DLC to the players current level, it will provide a challenge while starting you at step 1.

It really only flexes its new found difficulty muscles in mobs, creating an overpowering effect. On the flip side, it does make for a useful mechanic by giving players a place to unload loot in Sanctuary without losing locations.

9 Guardian Ranks

A system that means to convince players to keep fighting after the last boss, offering some pretty hefty rewards for the effort. The best part is that these rewards apply to your entire account, not only the character you earn them with.

Every level you hit in Guardian Ranks will give you a token, currency that you can spend on 1 of 2 generated stats when you redeem them. Stats split themselves into 3 categories, enough token spent in 1 of them will give you extra cosmetic rewards or a gameplay bonus.

8 Mayhem Mode

If difficulty is what you're looking for, Mayhem Mode is the last stop. Taking the game and slowly ramping up the enemies stats until dealing damage becomes a serious concern.

Braving the buffed stats will get players a higher drop rate for rare items and even access to the exclusive Mayhem Gear. The modifiers you apply will determine how much reward you get out of it, pushing experienced players to test their mettle.

7 Circle of Slaughter

Taking a detour from the chaotic world and diving into pure madness, the Circles of Slaughter make for the most condensed action in the game. Ramping up the difficulty in a series of waves, the name will quickly become apparent.

Rewards await if you can survive the waves, with each circle becoming larger in size. Eventually the last Circle of Slaughter is a separate planet, even if it's not the biggest.

6 Proving Grounds

Instead of waves, now players will be progressing through a series of dungeons. Each with its own specific rule including time limits or no deaths, making each one a unique obstacle. The level you choose to play with will directly affect the quality of your loot, tempting players to take a real challenge.

Every one will force players to go through 3 enemy filled rooms that lead up to a boss fight, at least giving you a path to expect.

5 Grind for Loot

Outside of the different modes in the game, Borderlands 3 has many different ways to hunt for the best items in the game. From dedicated drops for every legendary weapon to chests that have some exclusive items.

For every one of these methods, being at a higher level will ramp up the chances of a great drop and cut your grind time in half. Luck will be another useful stat to level up once you have all the resources to throw into it, a game changer once you've maxed out.

4 Build Experimentation

One of the best things about hitting the cap is the freedom that comes with it, giving players enough strength to experiment with different builds. Not to mention the access to every item in the game, Borderlands 3 becomes a shopping mall for the best gear.

On your way up from the lower levels, it's always best to lean into your strengths and get the main campaign out of the way as best you can. As soon as you get to the top though, the same old method will soon get old and push you into trying new styles.

3 Side Quest Completion

Something that players run into all the time, especially first timers, is the list of side quests that they never got in the play through. However, some of those quests are the most interesting and enjoyable in the game and deserve to be experienced.

Now that you have all the power, running through the side content that gives life to the Borderlands 3 world is a great use of time. Filling in some story gaps and taking the high stakes out of the equation, players are free to enjoy the off road adventure.

2 Takedowns/Raid Bosses

Fans of the series will remember the giant bosses that you and your friends could obliterate as a team, only to be replaced by Takedowns, an extension of the same idea. Luckily for fans of the original, they added it in post-mortem.

Now players can grind both battles and take down some of the games toughest challenges, stocking up big drops along the way.

1 Trophy Hunt

Near impossible to get done without dragging the main storyline to a crawl, the hunt for trophies can finally get some attention. With over 40 trophies to collect with a wide range of difficulty, it's a great way to experience parts of the game you never usually would.

Not to mention it can rack up your numbers and make the account look that much more impressive, all while playing through a lot of the content most miss along the way.
