The much anticipated wait for studio Bloober Team's newest title, The Medium, is finally over as the game is now available on PC and Xbox Series X and S. Early reviews of The Medium seem promising, with many praising the game's graphical fidelity and its roots in the classic survival-horror genre.
Now that The Medium is finally out, Bloober Team has released an official launch player to give player's a glimpse of what the can expect from the game. The trailer sets up The Medium's world, introduces viewers to its main protagonist, Marianne, and features an original song titled “Voices,” performed by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and composed by Akira Yamaoka and Arkadiusz Reikowski.

The launch trailer begins with Marianne saying goodbye to her father, as she dresses him in a suit and tie before placing his corpse in a morgue. The trailer then shows how the game's main plot will kick off, with Marianne getting a phone call from strange voice who claims they know what she is. Marianne heads out to an abandoned resort to find the mysterious caller, where her journey begins. The trailer does an excellent job showcasing The Medium's unique elements, showing glimpses of Marianne's psychic powers as well as the game's dual-reality gameplay.
The trailer is also backed by the dreamy, melancholic rock song "Voices." The song is sung by voice actress Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and composed by both Akira Yamaoka and Arkadiusz Reikowski. Reikowksi has composed music for Bloober Team's more recent titles. However, fans may recognize both McGlynn and Yamaoka from Silent Hill, as both collaborated together before Yamaoka left Konami.
The inspirations from games like Silent Hill is clear, and is one of the most attractive prospects for horror fans who have been keeping their eyes on The Medium. Of course, another intriguing quality The Medium offers is its dual-reality system, which allows portions of the game to render two distinct locations at the same time. Apparently, two-thirds of The Medium will be spent in one of the two realities the game has to offer, but the final third will be spent playing in both realities at once in real-time gameplay. The innovative system is sure to offer some incredible opportunity for both puzzle and horror gameplay elements, and is something that sets The Medium apart from other titles on this newest console generation.
Clearly, The Medium is Bloober Team's most ambitious project yet. Those players interested in picking up The Medium can do so today, either on PC or Xbox Series X and S.
