Monster Hunter Rise players need Ace Hunter Coins for a variety of weapons and armor, but it isn't entirely obvious how to get them.

Monster Hunter Rise tends to be pretty straightforward with its materials. If an item says "Tigrex" on it, chances are that item is obtained by hunting a Tigrex. Since players have been hunting monsters, carving them for materials, and crafting weapons and armor since the game came out, most are pretty well-versed in this system by now. Even so, there are some weapons and armor that require coins, and it isn't entirely obvious where players should look to get these at first. This is the case with the Ace Hunter Coin, which players might need for the Mighty Bow Feather armor piece.

All of these coins come from Arena Quests in Monster Hunter Rise, and these pose a unique challenge when compared to other quests. When starting an Arena Quest, players are restricted to one of five different types of weapons. What's more, they are given preset weapons, armor, and item loadouts that they have to defeat the hunt with.

The first way of getting Ace Hunter Coins is by completing Arena 05. This pits players against a Rajang in the arena, and limits their weapon choices. Players have to choose between Dual Blades, Greatswords, Longswords, Lances, and Heavy Bowguns. If players manage to complete the quest, they should receive some Ace Hunter Coins in the reward. Players can still get Ace Hunter Coins even if they only get B Rank (complete the hunt within 50 minutes). Clearing the quest faster will give better rewards. Beat the Rajang in 10 minutes to get A Rank, and down the beast in under 4 minutes and 30 seconds to get S Rank.

The second way of getting Ace Hunter Coins is by completing Arena 06. This is a new quest that was just added with the most recent update to Monster Hunter Rise. Rather than taking on a single Rajang, players will now be hunting a whole host of monsters, including a Volvidon, Basarios, and even the infamous Bazelgeuse. To get A Rank, hunters will need to defeat all three monsters in under 15 minutes. For those wanting to get the S Rank rewards instead, they must be beaten in under nine minutes.

Either of these methods should work to get Ace Hunter Coins. Remember that the coins will come as part of the quest reward, not as a shiny drop or carve from a monster. These Arena Quests can be somewhat challenging, especially if players are forced to play with a weapon they aren't used to, but persevere and Ace Hunter Coins will come in time.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now on Switch.
