Second Extinction is available on Xbox Game Pass, so it's time to fight some dinosaurs. What are the best weapon perks available in the co-op shooter?

Trying to take out an army of mutated dinosaurs was never going to be an easy task, especially when someone only has three people on their side. Not even the most powerful weapon would be enough without Second Extinction's list of effective mods to provide a boost.

With most games, players are only dealing with other humans, but Second Extinction had to step up the intensity with what a weapon could do. While everyone is going to have a different play style, these mods will be useful for any player that wants to take on the biggest enemies the game has to offer.

10 Dragonsbreath

Keeping true to its name, Dragonsbreath will launch an arc of incendiary ammo if fired from the hip. A great choice when a player has got multiple enemies and needs to spray and pray, especially when they must act fast.

This would work well as a deterrent for the pack dinos who tend to attack as a group. Combined with the incendiary damage, this perk makes for a helpful emergency tool.

9 Sluggish

The first and cheapest upgrade in the Crit category, Sluggish will slow down any enemy the player deals damage to. Creating a domino effect that will then make them take more damage, Sluggish crafts a lot more opportunity to mow down enemies.

This perk truly shows its worth when up against some of the raptor variations, slowing them down and giving the player some time to focus in a mob. In a particularly brutal game, this is an essential perk for beginners.

8 From The Shadows

A great perk for those who like to play with a little finesse, it makes shots to an unaware enemy even more powerful. If rushing straight into the danger zone isn't someone's preferred method, then From The Shadows is for them.

Useful against most enemies in the game, there are not many dinosaurs that players are forced to go toe to toe with. From The Shadows will also take away the chances of a fight at all, given that a well-placed shot can all but take them out.

7 Lead Poisoning

Great for any high-volume weapon, Lead Poisoning will inflict poison damage on the enemy and set them up for the next shot. While it's not a huge damage dealer, Lead Poisoning will be useful in most situations, wearing down big enemies and cutting the fight time in half.

Especially when it comes to the Machine Gun or Carbine, the high rate of fire will build up damage quickly and the results show. Instead of loading up for one big attack, players can consistently deal more damage with every shot.

6 Under pressure

When it comes to big heavy weapons that usually only give players enough time for one shot, speeding up the reload time is always a good choice. Some of the hardest enemies in the game will need more than one shot to take out, even from the rocket launcher.

Not only does it reload faster but its effects kick in when enemies are nearby, giving players an indication of danger. Overall, it balances out the Rocket Launcher somewhat by taking away the sluggish performance and giving players a powerhouse.

5 Smart Ammo

It's one of the most expensive perks for a reason. Smart Ammo tracks enemies when the player fires from the hip. Taking away the immediate danger of a sneak attack when a player can immediately fire without needing to aim.

Getting caught off guard is never a good look but as long as someone hasn't been surprised by a T-Rex, they should be able to collect your thoughts. Smart Ammo is a perk that doesn't seem necessary until a player actually owns it. After that, it becomes indispensable.

4 Resourcefulness

The bane of any shooter is running out of ammunition and winding up helpless. Resourcefulness provides extra ammo for every kill secured, rewarding performance and making sure players never find themselves a bullet short.

When it comes to fighting off packs of dinosaurs, Resourcefulness will take away the ammunition worry and let the player focus on getting out of the scramble.

3 Impact Detonator

Using the Grenade Launcher is a question of timing in most cases, making Impact Detonator a must-have perk to get the most out of the weapon. Forcing grenades to explode as soon as they make contact makes the user's life much easier by allowing them to take direct aim at your target.

Keeping enemies at a distance is a serious concern, especially when playing on the highest levels. Impact Detonator makes sure a player doesn't fall victim to a bouncing grenade that ends up causing more harm than good.

2 Target Bias

One for the bulkier enemies that players are going to have to face, this perk will deal critical damage when the same enemy is hit with consecutive shots. Target Bias not only piles on damage the longer the attack lasts but also gives players a reason to go on the offensive.

It will make the lighter weapons more useful against large enemies and take away the need to whip out a heavy weapon so often. Especially with a big ammo clip at your disposal, Target Bias can turn up the damage on all of the volume weapons.

1 Rock Steady

Keeping any kind of accuracy while trying to be mobile is a hard skill to perfect, as usually the attack is suspended until the player reaches a better position. Rock Steady provides the same level of precision while moving around the map.

A basic effect that will serve every player well, no matter the enemy. Being able to keep a steady lock on a target while avoiding an attack just became a lot easier, bringing together two important parts of combat.
