Apex Legends' upcoming Season 9 event is bringing a lot of changes to Respawn Entertainments battle royale. One of the largest additions coming to Apex Legends in the season is the entirely new Arenas mode.
The new mode sees players participating in 3-versus-3 elimination matches. At the start of the matches, squads spawn into a room where they can customize their loadouts and prepare for the rounds before they run out into the map to try and overcome the enemy squad. A lot of details have been provided about Apex Legends' new mode by Respawn Entertainment, but today marks the first look that players are getting at the mode's maps.

In a new update, Respawn Entertainment has provided information on two of the maps players can expect to play in when the Arenas mode comes to Apex Legends. One of them is titled Party Crasher. The map takes place in a downtown plaza that features two-story buildings on one side and the crashed Mirage Voyage on the other. The two sides of the map create a variety of engagement distances, so players should expect both close-quarters and long-distance encounters that will highlight Apex Legends' various tactical abilities in the tense gunfights.
The second map is titled Phase Runner. Phase Runner is the largest of the maps coming to the Arenas mode and takes place in a hidden experimental base at the peak of a mountain. The map's size gives players a lot more room to maneuver around the map and attack from different angles, but it also leaves players open to being picked off from afar by a skilled sniper. The developers say that success on the map will require solid team communication as well as a tactical approach to engagements. It seems like the map will favor weapons that can excel in medium to long-ranged combat, such as Apex Legends' incoming Bocek bow weapon.
The update will also bring three additional maps with it, each one featuring a location from one of Apex Legends' three full-sized maps. The locations will include Artillery from Kings Canyon, Thermal Station from World's Edge, and the Golden Gardens from Olympus. Apex Legends fans have already started requesting locations that they want to see playable in Arenas, so it will be interesting to see what locations make the cut. Regardless, Arenas seems like it could be a fun new experience for Apex Legends players, and it will be great to see what else Respawn has in store for the battle royale.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
