Bungie is changing the World's First Raid Race to keep it competitive while respecting the original team who won World's First in Destiny 1.

Destiny 2’s World’s First Raid Events are always something Guardians look forward to when a new raid releases. Season 14 brings with it the revised version of the popular Destiny Raid Vault of Glass. While Bungie wants to keep the World’s First Raid Race alive and well, some things needed to change for the return of Vault of Glass.

Traditionally, Bungie's World’s First Raid Race was new and exciting, giving Guardians the chance to race other Guardians to see who will be the first to complete the new and challenging content. Since Vault of Glass is a returning Raid, Bungie had to tweak the World’s First Raid Race to compensate for the fact that many participants will already have a broad understanding of the Raid’s mechanics.

Vault of Glass will launch with Contest Mode active for 24 hours. Guardians will need to be at Power Level 1300 to hit the cap across all encounters. Guardians must complete Vault of Glass with Contest Mode active to access the new Challenge Mode in the Director.

Completing the Vault of Glass under Contest Mode will also grant access to the Tempo’s Edge, a curated list of Triumphs. Guardians will need to complete the Tempo’s Edge Triumphs in the newly unlocked Challenge Mode to cross the finish line and claim victory in this World’s First Raid Race.

For Guardians who claim World’s First, Bungie is still awarding a belt with their clan’s name on it like previous World’s First belts. However, to keep the spirit of the team who originally got World’s First for Vault of Glass in Destiny, Bungie will put that clan’s name on the new belt as well.

To recap, the Destiny 2 Season 14 Vault of Glass World’s First Raid Race will require Guardians to complete the raid on Contest Mode to unlock Challenge Mode and the Tempo’s Edge Triumphs. Guardians must then again complete the Vault of Glass in Challenge Mode and complete the Tempo’s Edge Triumphs. The First team to do all of that will be crowned World’s First.

While this World’s First Raid Race is different from previous Raids, many Guardians will be familiar with the Vault of Glass and its mechanics, so the initial run should not be difficult for many teams. The second run with Challenge mode active will be the deciding factor in what team achieves that coveted World’s First Vault of Glass Belt and title.
