The ESRB releases a rating for a Nintendo Switch version of Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom even without a formal announcement of the port.

ESRB ratings are generally announced before the release of a game, but with the public knowing that the game will be coming out. In the case of Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, it appears that a port to the Nintendo Switch has been confirmed with the release of the ESRB rating for the system.

Receiving a T for Teen rating, tied to the Nintendo Switch, Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom seems to be making the jump to the portable console three years after being released on the PC and PS4. The T for Teen rating was set due to the content of fantasy violence and mild blood.

The game was originally released in March 2018 for the PC and PS4. At the time, Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom was met with positive reviews by both critics and players, earning an 84 on Metacritic. The game is the non-linear sequel to Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, another highly praised game.

While Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch has already been ported over to the Nintendo Switch, there was a question about whether or not the second game would make its way over to the system. With the ESRB release of the rating, this can be put to bed.

Though this is not the first portable version of a Ni no Kuni game, it's another title for JRPG fans on a system that is catering to the genre. While there is no official release announcement or date set, that seems nothing more than a formality for publisher Bandai Namco.

What was most likely an oversight has become excitement for Ni No Kuni fans. While new players may be hesitant to play the second if they missed the first, both can be picked up and played separately, allowing fans to grab a fairly recently released action JRPG on the Nintendo Switch whenever it goes on sale.

Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is available now on the PC and PS4.
