When Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town was released, it was met with excitement by those that enjoy farming-style games such as Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley. Just a month after going on sale, its first part of the Expansion Pass has been released, with new content for players of the game.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, building off cute graphics and simple-yet-satisfying gameplay, has added animal attire for both the player and marriage candidates. With the game's ability to take pictures and upload them to the internet, players worldwide will want to dress up in either a dog or cat costume while continuing to toil in the fields. Fans will also be able to dress up a marriage candidate in the same style of costume.

The other content coming to Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is called the "Olive Town Mystery Files." This is a sub-scenario in which the player, Mike, and Cindy all investigate strange happenings around Olive Town. This is described as the "very first mystery scenario," so fans can expect more to be added in the future. One feature of these mystery scenarios is the protagonist dressing up in a classic detective outfit.

The Expansion Pass parts appear to be on a monthly release schedule following the game's launch, with the next one scheduled in May and going all the way into August of 2021. Players will also receive an assortment of outfits for their protagonist with the purchase of the Expansion Pass.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is the second release for the series on the Switch in the past year, following Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town from 2020. While critics have been back and forth of the game (it has a score of 71 on Metacritic), it has still managed to find a fanbase.

The first part of the Expansion Pass was released on April 29 and is available after purchase for $19.99 or with the base game at $69.99. The game's premium edition comes with a buffalo plushie and cloth poster and is currently listed for $59.99.
