Xbox leaker sheds a bit more light on certain online Fable features hinting that cooperative adventuring could be coming back to the series.

Last summer, Microsoft finally confirmed all of the Fable leaks and rumors through a short teaser trailer. While the trailer contained no gameplay and only vaguely teased what players could expect, it did confirm that Forza Horizon developer Playground Games was now in charge of the former Lionhead Studios franchise. Unfortunately from that point on, the game has gone back underground without any substantial updates from Microsoft or Playground Games.

Naturally, this lack of information has left a big void within the community who have since turned to rumors and leaks for any sort of update. Speculation has even come from sources like job listings from Playground Games' official website with many assuming that Fable will be running in a new and customized engine based off a listing for a graduate programmer position. While its unknown when Microsoft will bring Fable back out, new reports have surfaced online from a reputable leaker.

The latest unofficial news regarding the new Fable comes from Shpeshal Ed, an individual who has a pretty decent track record. In a post on Xboxera discussing Xbox Game Studio projects, Shpeshal Ed indicates that Fable was never intended to be an MMO, though it will have some sort of online aspect to it. While they don't go into specifics, the prevailing thought is that it may lean into what the past games did through co-op.

Following their post, many fans began pointing out that Fable 2 and Fable 3 both had limited forms of co-op including being able to drop-in and drop-out where the host sets the rules for the joining player. Albion Orbs was another form of online connectivity where players would see lighted orbs in their world which represent where other players are in their world. Interacting with these orbs allowed the player to see that players online name, stats, and even being able to bring that person into their game.

At the moment, it's unknown how or even if this new game will connect to the previous Fable games. Many are speculating that this new version could represent a soft reboot of the franchise, perhaps turning back the clock and moving the timeline back before the Industrial Revolution seen in Fable 3. While this game likely represents a new beginning for the fan favorite IP, it hasn't stopped most in the community from developing their own list of features they want to see returning from the Fable series.

Fable is currently in development by Playground Games.
