A new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War this week will add the CARV.2 tactical rifle to the game alongside new playlists.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is updated on a weekly basis, with new updates typically arriving in the game on Thursdays. This coming Thursday is expected to bring yet another update to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and while it's not out yet, Activision has clued Call of Duty fans on what they can expect from the game later this week.

As it so happens, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans can look forward to adding a new weapon to their arsenal when the update goes live, presumably on Thursday, May 6. The CARV.2 tactical rifle will be added to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War with the next update, with players having a couple of different options when it comes to getting it in the game. The first option is to purchase it in a bundle that will be available in the store, and the other option is to complete an in-game challenge. Specifics of the CARV.2 tactical rifle challenge have yet to be revealed at the time of this writing, however.

Besides the CARV.2 tactical rifle, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans will also have some new multiplayer playlists to play this week as well. The Yamantau + Diesel 24/7 playlist will soon go live in the game, letting fans play Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, and Team Deathmatch on the new Diesel and Yamantau 6v6 maps that were added at the start of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3.

The Party Games playlist will also be coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War later this week. The Party Games playlist in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War focuses on more gimmicky match types, with Gun Game, Prop Hunt, and Sticks and Stones all represented. This time around, Party Games players will also be able to play on the new Diesel and Yamantau maps as well as the other maps that are usually a part of the lineup.

Meanwhile, Gunfight players have something to look forward to in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War this week as well. With Gunfight Tournament leaving Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on May 6, it will be replaced by Gunfight Blueprints. Gunfight Blueprints is a variant of the regular Gunfight mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War that lets players utilize special custom weapons.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 has many more weeks ahead of it, so there should be plenty of new content on the way for fans of the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
