Ninja Theory, the team behind the upcoming Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, will add no more new content to its multiplayer melee game, Bleeding Edge.

Developer Ninja Theory has announced that there will be no more content updates for Bleeding Edge, the 4v4 third-person melee combat game that released last year. The team instead will focus its efforts on its upcoming projects.

Leading up to the release of Bleeding Edgethe game showed some promise. However, Ninja Theory's take on a multiplayer hero-style game received mixed reviews, and the team seemed to quickly shift back to what it does best; single-player and narrative-focused experiences.

The good news is that Bleeding Edge is still alive and it is not going anywhere. Although Ninja Theory made the announcement that the game would not be receiving new content, it is still playable on Xbox and PC.

So for those who enjoy the chaos and fun that the multiplayer title provides, Bleeding Edge will still be around. However, compared to games like Apex Legends (which continues to see huge seasonal updates) or even smaller multiplayer online titles like Hunt: Showdown (with ongoing fresh content), it is a bummer for those who love Bleeding Edge to know that the game will not be getting anything new from here on out.

The move from Ninja Theory does make sense. Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is a highly anticipated game after the massive success of the original, and Ninja Theory has very interesting experiences in development. Not much is known about The Insight Project, other than it combines video game design with clinical neuroscience thanks to the help from a Professor from the University of Cambridge. Meanwhile, Project Mara is a horror game that tackles the genre through the spectrum of mentor terror. With these projects, and the Hellblade games being based around mental health, a multiplayer chaotic game like Bleeding Edge almost feels out of place for Ninja Theory.

Bleeding Edge is now available on PC and Xbox One.
