As fans prepare to celebrate Star Wars Day, an industry insider suggests that Microsoft may be eyeing an Xbox exclusive Star Wars game.

May the Fourth has arrived and ushered in a bit of exciting news for Star Wars fans. Per the rumor mill, specifically industry insider Jeff Grubb, Xbox is supposedly working on an exclusive Star Wars title.

In his recent edition of The Game Mess Show, where he sits down and addresses rumors and interesting news in the industry, Grubb dropped a few bombshells of information. The first tidbit he leaked was that Lucasfilm was reportedly looking to make deals for multiple new games. In the video, he suggested that as per usual, Lucasfilm was interested in deals with EA, the publisher behind games like Star Wars Battlefront and Jedi: Fallen Orderbut he also hinted that Microsoft could be looking to throw its hat into the ring by developing an Xbox-exclusive title.

Grubb continued by giving a list of potential ideas that Microsoft could work with, but summed up by saying that he wasn't sure exactly what idea it would develop. However, he confirmed that Microsoft was indeed looking to create a game within the Star Wars universe. He also cautioned fans against expecting news too soon, saying "the one thing [he] knows about Lucasfilm is that it takes its time."

Considering the fun nature of May the Fourth, today would be the perfect time to confirm many of Grubb's guesses. If true, his prediction that Microsoft is developing an Xbox-exclusive game could be the first murmurings of an absolutely massive forthcoming title. The Star Wars gaming community tends to be one that heaps praise on high-quality titles, take for instance Knights of the Old Republic, which still manages to creep its way back into trending on Twitter and was recently was called the "greatest game of all time" by James Gunn. A Microsoft-backed Star Wars title would have all the basic ingredients necessary to make a legendary game if done right.

Since Grubb did not suggest a date when we fans would get information on a potential Microsoft Star Wars announcement, critics will have to offer a bit of a grace period on this recent prediction. It would be surprising, however, given the amount of Star Wars-related predictions made in his video if fans received little to no news today of all days. However, one of his bigger predictions unrelated to May the Fourth, that information related to Battlefield 6 is forthcoming, seems primed to happen with Battlefield 6 screenshots leaking last week.
