Season of the Splicer for Destiny 2 has been revealed and Guardians will be able to get an Exotic Sidearm that deals Stasis damage and over 30 brand new and reprised Legendary weapons. The Cryosthesia 77k Sidearm can be unlocked immediately after buying the premium season pass or at level 35 on the free track of the season pass.
Season of the Splicer will also be adding a new six-player seasonal activity called Override, a new pinnacle mission called Expunge, and eventually the reprised Vault of Glass Raid to Destiny 2. Also, with Season of the Chosen in its final week, Destiny 2 players do not have much time to prepare for the new season.

The Cryosthesia 77k Exotic Sidearm was briefly shown off in the new Season of the Splicer reveal trailer and appears to be able to fire a bolt of Stasis that instantly freezes whatever enemy it hits, much like the Shadebinder Warlock’s melee ability. The weapon is also a gift to Guardians from Mithrax, a new Fallen ally, and the eponymous Splicer. In the trailer, a Titan fires the Sidearm normally a few times and then reloads it to fire the Stasis shot, which suggests that the Cryosthesia 77k has a special reload that activates the exotic perk like the Traveler’s Chosen Exotic Sidearm. It is safe to assume that Tower Gunsmith Banshee-44 will also be offering an Exotic Catalyst quest for Cryothesia.
Also in the Destiny 2 trailer, many Guardians were seen wielding some of the new seasonal Legendary weapons and reprised ones that will be available in Season of the Splicer. Over 30 brand new and returning weapons will be available in Season of the Splicer, and based on official images from Bungie, it seems that there will be five completely new seasonal Legendary weapons, as well as a Shotgun and Machine Gun available from the season pass.
Keen-eyed Destiny 2 fans may have also noticed the class-specific Legendary Swords in the trailer which will likely be making a comeback as reprised weapons. Bungie also recently showed some new and returning weapons for Iron Banner in season 14. While there are currently no confirmed details on how to earn the weapons, the new seasonal guns will likely be obtainable through the Override and Expunge activities.
After a shaky few months with small weapon loot pools in Beyond Light and Season of the Hunt, Bungie is really upping its game when it comes to new weapons in each new season. While the end of gear sunsetting has meant that many of those new weapons are in fact renewed versions of old weapons, Destiny 2 players will at least have lots of weapons to pursue.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light and the new Season of the Chosen are available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
