The free PlayStation Plus games for May 2021 are now available for subscribers to claim across PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

The PlayStation Store updates every Tuesday, and the first Tuesday of the month is always an especially exciting update. The first Tuesday of the month means that the new batch of free PlayStation Plus games are available for subscribers to claim and download for their collection, and as usual, the free PS Plus games consist of two PlayStation 4 titles and one PlayStation 5 game.

From now until Tuesday, June 1, PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim Wreckfest on PS5 and Battlefield V and Stranded Deep on PS4. All three games are playable on PlayStation 5 thanks to the PS5's backward compatibility, though the PS4 version of Wreckfest is not included in the deal. Subscribers will be able to access all three free games for as long as they remain subscribed to the PlayStation Plus service.

In the case of Wreckfest, it seems as though Sony is making a big push for the game, especially when compared to the other free PS Plus games for May 2021. Wreckfest has PS5-exclusive features, like the DualSense controller support, plus it has new updates planned for subscribers to check out as well. Wreckfest's availability on PS Plus should also go a long way in appeasing anyone upset that the PlayStation version of the game doesn't include a free upgrade for those who own the PS4 version.

While Wreckfest may be the main focus for the free PS Plus games for May 2021 lineup, the other two titles are nothing to sneeze at either. Battlefield V is the latest installment in the long-running Battlefield franchise, and it should help whet fans' appetites while they wait for more information on the new Battlefield game that's expected to launch this year. Rumors suggest that the new Battlefield game could be revealed in a manner of days, so Battlefield fans should keep an eye out for more information.

As for Stranded Deep, the oceanic survival game has developed its own dedicated following of players, and it should gain plenty more by being part of the PS Plus game lineup. There was quite a bit of interest in the game when it first launched last year, and so perhaps its status as a free PS Plus game will give it a boost.

These three games aren't the only titles that PlayStation players can claim for "free" in May 2021. Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition is also free to claim until May 14. Unlike WreckfestBattlefield V, or Stranded Deep, though, Horizon Zero Dawn doesn't require a PlayStation Plus subscription.
