As players progress through NieR Replicant's side quests they will realize that the rewards received for completing each quest will vary drastically. While some quests may reward players with thousands of gold, others may reward nothing at all.
One of the most useful rewards that NieR Replicant players are able to receive in the game is permanent shop discounts. In the sidequest, "A Child's Final Chance" players are able to earn a permanent discount on all items purchased at the village grocer by completing a brief quest.

To start the quest, after the time skip, speak with the grocer whose stall can be found in the middle of the village next to where players obtained The Runaway Son sidequest. The grocer will explain to the player that her son has been ill for a week and that she has no idea what caused the illness or how to cure it.
When asked about possible causes, the grocer explains that her son had done nothing unusual and simply went out to play with the other children in town. Players must then find clues to the boy's illness by questioning three children that can be found throughout the village.
The first child can be found walking around the north end of the village near the Nier Replicant flower shop vendor. The second child is found nearby behind the fountain that is located directed behind the flower shop vendor. The third and final child can be found at the end of the village wall which can be accessed via the ramp next to the fountain.
After questioning the children, each of them claims that the boy's illness is the result of a curse from the Northern Woods. Once players have spoken to each of the three children they must then head to The Forest of Myth via the Northern Plains to search for any additional clues.
Once players arrive at the Forest of Myth head to the end of the area where the large tree is located. When players reach the tree, a brief cutscene will play out and players will find a strange-looking berry at the base of the tree.
During this cutscene, Nier will decide to eat the berries and take several more. When players attempt to leave the Forest of Myth, Nier will collapse from the berry, which turns out to be poisonous.
When he awakes, a resident of the Forest of Myth will appear, and after scolding the player, will give him an antidote for himself and the sick boy. Players must then return back to the village and give the antidote to the grocer. After delivering the antidote, players will receive a reward of 10,000 gold which completes the quest.
