Acclaimed indie developer Flight School Studio reveals the release date for its new laid-back action-adventure title, Stonefly.

Flight School Studio, the team behind the indie hit Creature in the Well, has announced release dates for its latest title, Stonefly. The laid-back action-adventure game will be coming out on June 1 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and on PC via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The game's eponymous hero, Annika Stonefly, is out on a mission to recover her dad's stolen mech suit—not totally dissimilar from the story of Valkyrie, Apex Legends' newest hero. To navigate the verdant world in Stonefly, Annika will need to use her own suit and its various upgrades. As players progress through the game, a slew of practical and cosmetic options become available. For instance, a trip through a snow-laden section of the map will require insulation, which players must first gather the materials for.

As players come across materials, they will be met by insectoid adversaries also intent on gathering resources. With each bug-like enemy presenting a new problem, players will have to devise ingenious solutions and utilize creative combinations in order to progress. There will also be a variety of different mission types for players including story-based, narrative-driven missions, timed challenges, and simple patrol missions.

With less than a month until launch, indie game fans may want to go back and familiarize themselves with the studio's previous work. Just last month, its pinball-inspired dungeon crawler Creature in the Well was available for free on the Epic Games Store and is still worth a look if fans want to see what sort of depth and interesting puzzles they can expect out of Stonefly.

Stonefly will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on June 1.
