Tom Hiddleston wants everyone to know Loki doesn't play by the same rules as Marvel's heroes, not even if they're Disney Plus' guidelines.

After two miniseries featuring run-of-the-mill heroes, Loki will surely bring a nice change of pace for the MCU when the God of Mischief goes solo for the first time. As it turns out, Tom Hiddleston is already up to no good, with the surprise announcement that Loki will be messing with Disney Plus' schedule.

Originally planned for release on Friday, June 11, Loki's entire setting already made it one of the MCU’s more interesting propositions for this year. However, considering The Bad Batch is now taking up Fridays with a different Star Wars flavor, it really didn’t play out to Loki’s strengths or personality to share streaming prime time with anyone else.

For that reason, Marvel Entertainment allowed Tom Hiddleston to act out the announcement that Loki will now premiere on Wednesday, June 9, instead of that week's Friday. Although not explicitly saying the move is permanent, the entire "Wednesdays are the new Fridays" narrative makes it obvious that the new series really won’t be playing by the same rules as WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, because as Hiddleston says in the video, Loki can be heroic in his own way.

The video comes only two days after Marvel posted its celebration of movies clip, which also brought the news of confirmed titles for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels. But as the God of Mischief would say, he’s a bit tired of all that superhero showcase stealing the spotlight away from his important debut, and he’s about to prove his worth to marvel in an entirely new way if the Loki trailers are anything to go by.

Loki is a bit of a standout from the two previous Marvel miniseries in the sense that it doesn’t deal with the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, but rather departs to an entirely different timeline where the God of Mischief himself has not lived through the events that made him a more charming and redeemable character. While cameos and ties to other MCU productions have not been on the forefront of Wandavision nor The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki could set up a lot of the rules that will govern in Phase Four.

Of course, from a business standpoint, it really doesn’t make much sense to put Loki and The Bad Batch in a battle for attention on the same platform, so the move could have been easily foreseen by many. For fans, this only means Disney is being really mindful that they always have something new to watch every time they tune in.

Loki will premiere on Disney Plus on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
