There are 22 different types of Pokemon for players to find in New Pokemon Snap's Outaway Cave course, including Gengar, Jolteon and Diancie.

Players will gain access to New Pokemon Snap's Outaway Cave course once they've unlocked purple Illumina Orbs and reached research level 2 in Snowfields (Night). There are two main routes, the second of which will be taken automatically the first time players enter the course after reaching research level 2. In subsequent runes though, players will need to perform a scan when they reach the bottom of the main cavern if they want to take it again. At research level 3, each route gets its own smaller additional route, although both will need to be triggered each time that players wish to take them.

There are 22 different types of Pokemon scattered throughout the course in total, but many of them won't show up until higher research levels and one or two will only be available at research levels 1 and 2. There's also a Legendary Pokemon hiding in the course's crystal cavern and a fan favorite Eeveelution too, although players will have to complete the main story in New Pokemon Snap before they can find them. Many of the Pokemon that reside in the cave can only be found here, so players hoping to complete their Photodex will need to spend a fair amount of time exploring everything that the course has to offer.

  • Crobat - Crobat will likely be one of the first Pokemon that most players see upon entering the course. They can be found throughout the default route and at research level 3 there's one that can be used to unlock an alternate route over the rimstone pools near the course's default exit. Players will need to wake it up on the left shortly after passing through the central cavern and then look for a Gengar portal on the roof to their right a little further along. If players get the Gengar to come out at the right time, it will prevent the Crobat from flying past and allow players to scan for the new route near the Rampardos.
  • Gengar - Gengar can be found popping out of portals throughout the default route, although players will usually need to hit the portal with an Illumina orb first to make it stick its head out. Hitting Gengar with an Illumina Orb will sometimes make him scare nearby Pokemon or, in some instances, climb out of the portal entirely.
  • Joltik - There are Joltik climbing on the walls throughout the starting area as well as near the end of the default route. There are also some near an alternate route that's unlocked by pacifying an angry Mawile.
  • Carbink - There are a bunch of Carbink near the start of the course and more will show up on the main alternate route too.
  • Beartik - As players travel down the central cavern, they'll be able to look up to the surface to see a Beartik or two. They're too far away to get a decent photo though, unfortunately.
  • Braviary - Players should be able to see a Braviary directly in front of them right as they enter the central cavern.
  • Magikarp - There's a Crystabloom over on the right hand side of the central cavern that will release Magikarp if hit with an Illumina Orb. There's also a Magikarp in the water on the rimstone route.
  • Glalie - Players will pass a sleeping Glalie as they make their way down through the central cavern.
  • Rampardos - There are Rampardos running around at the bottom of the central cavern as well as near the course's default exit. At higher research levels, luring the one over on the right towards the Gengar portal with a Fluffruit can have some interesting results.
  • Croagunk - Croagunk like to hang out at the bottom of the central cavern. At research level 3, getting them to sing in the correct order (middle, top and then bottom) will cause them to float and yield a four star photo opportunity.
  • Sableye - There are some Sableye hanging out on the left of the default route shortly after exiting the central cavern. There's also one sleeping in the crystal cavern on the main alternate route and another three that are chasing around a Carbink, although only at research level 2.
  • Geodude - Geodude can be found near the end of the default route. At research level 2, there'll also be a pair doing battle to the player's left at the start of the alternate route.
  • Noibat - Noibat start to show up once players hit research level 2 and can be found in the starting area. There are also some in the central cavern, near the default exit and at the beginning of the main alternate route.
  • Drifloon - At higher research levels, Drifloon start to show up in the central cavern, although initially players will have to settle for photographing them either in the central cavern or in the crystal cavern on the alternate route.
  • Clefairy - There's a Clefairy talking with Gengar in the central cavern and a few more sleeping on the left side of the default route. At research level 3, players will be able to find three of them gathered around a Crystabloom in the central cavern and can get themselves a nice four star photo. All they'll need to do is hit the Crystabloom with an Illumina Orb, use the Melody Player to make the Pokemon dance and then hit each one of them with an Illumina Orb to make them start floating.
  • Mawile - An angry Mawhile will show up on a platform in the crystal cavern at research level 2. At research level 3, another will spawn in to the same area directly beneath where players enter and a third can be found sleeping near the alternate exit that's past the angry Mawile.
  • Vivillon - Vivillon first shows up in the area containing the big green crystal, although another variant of the Pokemon can be found near the exit past the angry Mawile at research level 3.
  • Pumpkaboo - There are four different sizes of Pumpkaboo for players to track down, although finding the largest will require them to hit all of the other sizes with Illumina Orbs in a single run first. They're mainly found in the starting area, but also show up near the course's three exits.
  • Hydreigon - Hydreigon will fly down through the central cavern and make its way to the default exit. If players hit it with a few Fluffruit before it reaches the bottom though, they'll be able to get a four star photo by doing so again at the default exit. There's also a sleeping Hydreigon over to the left of the alternate exit that's past the angry Mawile.
  • Goodra - Goodra first shows up near the sleeping Clefairy and there are a few more playing in the rimstone pools a little further along.
  • Jolteon - To find Jolteon, players will first need to summon Diancie and then hit it with an Illumina Orb to get it to release a pink light. This will pacify the angry Mawile and allow players to perform a scan to find another alternate route. Jolteon will be hiding in some bushes over to the left of this new area, but luring a Joltik over to it with Fluffruit will get it to come out into plain sight.
  • Diancie - One players have completed the game's main story and reached research level 3, they'll find two Carbink and a Mawile directly beneath them as they enter the crystal cavern on the main alternate route. Hitting all three of them with Illumina Orbs will cause Diancie to come out from behind a nearby pillar and hitting it with an Illumina Orb will yield a rather spectacular four star photo opportunity.
