Pistols are some of the most common weapons in gaming. These models have stood out among their peers.

As long as there have been weapons in video games, the hobby has caused contention. Shooting weapons like pistols were a part of video games longer than memory serves. Low-quality textures in retro games meant generic weapons with alternate names. However, with a noticeable kickback and immense firepower, it's easy to recognize the Desert Eagle even with a name like Night Hawk .50C.

A special shoutout goes to games like Doom, Wolfenstein, and Battlefield. Although these games didn't make the list, they contain iconic pistols that influence first and third-person shooters today. Without further ado, here's a reintroduction of the most historic firearms in video games.

10 Fatebringer (Destiny)

One of the most difficult to obtain weapons in Destiny is exceedingly powerful. Consider the Fatebringer as a token for completing the Vault of Glass raid on hard difficulty. You must defeat the Templar, who proves to be a formidable opponent, even for an experienced squad.

This pistol can also be obtained in the Raid Reprise raid. There are a few versions of the Fatebringer, but they all share that they are top-tier weapons. They have legendary rarity, even if some versions are more powerful than others.

9 D-50 (Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege)

".50 caliber pistol, short to medium range hand gun with heavy stopping power and penetration." The D-50 is one of the most useful weapons in Rainbow Six: Siege. Carefully placed shots will defeat an enemy with impunity. The D-50 usually takes two to three shots to kill an opponent. This small but powerful handgun is useful for tactical based combat. It can be used to shoot small holes in a wall.

8 Flintlock Pistol (Sea Of Thieves)

The Xbox One contained various console exclusives, but few compare to Sea of Thieves. This open-world seafaring game places players in the shoes of a pirate.

One of the most useful items you'll utilize in Sea of Thieves is the Flintlock Pistol. Its range and control are balanced perfectly for the game. Bullets do fall after shooting from afar, but players can compensate by aiming higher. The Flintlock Pistol earns points for simplicity, even if it's not the most memorable weapon in video game history.

7 Red9 (Resident Evil 4)

The Red9 is hands down the most powerful pistol in Resident Evil 4. This weapon can be purchased from the vendor for a relatively inexpensive 14,000 pesetas.

Its immense power is unlike the Handgun, the starting weapon used in Resident Evil 4. Aiming for the head will ensure that you get the most out of the gun. The Red9 was also featured in Dead Rising. This powerful and memorable weapon fires 9mm bullets.

6 Plasma Pistol (Halo: The Master Chief Collection)

The Plasma Pistol might be the ugly duckling of pistols in Halo: Combat Evolved. It is a weapon from an alien species, the Covenant. If used correctly, the Plasma Pistol can be a devastating weapon. One fully charged shot will deplete an enemy's shield, leaving them vulnerable for attack. This iconic weapon is also used to slow down vehicles. Its stun function proves to be an invaluable function in Halo single-player and multiplayer.

5 Silenced PP7 (GoldenEye 007)

The Nintendo 64's GoldenEye 007 doesn't have a shortage of pistols to choose from, yet the Silenced PP7 is arguably the most iconic. When you start GoldenEye 007, you are given the silenced version of the PP7. It's quiet and won't alert enemies from a reasonable distance.

Other notable pistols in GoldenEye 007 include the Gold PP7, PP7, and the Golden Gun. With cheat codes, it's easy to obtain all the pistols on your person. It's even possible to dual-wield different weapons by using an exploit in the game.

4 Five-SeveN (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive)

The Five-SeveN is pound-for-pound the most powerful pistol in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The Desert Eagle might be the most damaging weapon, however, the Five-SeveN's fire rate makes it a reliable pistol. With twenty bullets in a clip, compared to the Desert Eagle's seven, the Five-SeveN stands out as an iconic weapon. Other notable Counter-Strike: Global Offensive handguns include the R8 Revolver and Tec-9.

3 Nintendo Entertainment System Zapper (Duck Hunt)

You didn't forget about this retro weapon, did you? The NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) Zapper, also recognized as the Video Shooting Series light fun, was an NES launch accessory. It was used for games like Duck Hunt and Wild Gunman, as well as many others. Before the Zapper's release, gun peripherals were only used in arcades. The Zapper came in standard grey and was later released in orange in 1988.

2 M6D Pistol  (Halo: The Master Chief Collection)

After an uproar from the Halo community, the developers had no choice but to bring back the Halo: Combat Evolved pistol. The pistol has unparalleled power for a Halo pistol, even if it's widely considered overpowered.

Replaced by the Magnum in Halo 2, the series felt empty without this iconic weapon. The ability to shoot from long-range with accuracy using the gun's zoomed sight is a gamechanger. Only the most adept SPARTAN Programs can wield this weapon with impunity.

1 Desert Eagle (Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare)

The Desert Eagle is a secondary weapon featured in Call of Duty games. It was used in early games like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. With attachments like muzzles, lasers, barrels, and optics, it becomes an unstoppable force. It appears outside of the Call of Duty series, but time and time again, it's an invaluable semi-automatic pistol with unparalleled stopping power.
