Mass Effect Legendary Edition, the long-awaited remaster of BioWare's beloved sci-fi RPG series, is almost here. Six months after it was officially announced on November 7th, 2020, the title will be launching on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Mass Effect Legendary Edition will also be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X through backwards compatibility, and will feature some targeted enhancements.
It's almost a decade since the release of Mass Effect 3, and fans of the long-running series are anxious to get back into the boots of Commander Shephard. Fortunately, they won't have to wait long now, with release only a few hours away. Here's our breakdown of the complete release times for Mass Effect Legendary Edition on all devices.

The first players to get access to Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be those who own PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X/S consoles. The remastered trilogy will launch on these consoles at midnight local time on May 14th.
PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S:
- May 14th, 00:00 BST, EST, and PDT.
Because of the graphical improvements in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, as well as the fact that it's three sprawling titles in one, the game is around 90GB on consoles. Fortunately, pre-loading is already open for all consoles, meaning that players who've pre-ordered can start downloading already. It's worth noting that there'll also be a 13GB Day One Patch for console players.
A few hours after the console release, Mass Effect Legendary Edition will unlock on PC. However, the sci-fi epic seems to have different launch times based on which Store it's bought from. Players who bought Mass Effect Legendary Edition from Origin will get access to the game at 16:00 BST on May 14th, while it looks like those who bought it on Steam will have to wait until 02:00 BST on May 15th.
PC, Steam
- May 15th, 02:00 BST
- May 14th, 18:00 PST
- May 14th, 21:00 EST
PC, Origin
- May 14th, 16:00 BST
- May 14th, 08:00 PST
- May 14th, 11:00 EST
It's unclear why these dates are different, and there are suggestions in the community that the Steam projected release may actually be bugged. If true, this would mean that the game will also release on Steam at 16:00 BST. If not, the reason for these differing release dates on PC is probably due to Mass Effect Legendary Edition being an EA title. As Origin is EA's own Store, it makes sense that they'd want it to get a slight priority over Steam on the launch day. Mass Effect Legendary Edition will take up around 120GB on PC, and pre-loading is already available for those players who've preordered.
