While Resident Evil Village hasn't been out for long, but the modding community for the title has already been blossoming. These mods have ranged from bringing back characters such as Albert Wesker to replacing Ethan's baby with a smaller Chris Redfield. However, one mod has added a classic horror movie slasher for players to face alongside all of the other horrors inside the game.
Resident Evil Village players are no stranger to the Moroaica enemies that attack them in the village and the depths of castles. While horrifying in appearance, GeorgeIE00 on NexusMods has created a mod that replaces these reanimated corpses with the slasher star of the Scream horror movie franchise, Ghostface.

After adding this mod, Ghostface will replace the Moroaica enemies that are wielding swords and other weapons, allowing Ghostface the opportunity to stab unprepared players. However, this mod is only cosmetic and will not change any of the gameplay mechanics involving these enemies. This means that players won't be getting mysterious phone calls asking them what their favorite scary movies are while recovering in a safe room.
Due to the nature of this mod, players are able to experience it in both the normal gameplay of Resident Evil Village's story as well as the game's Mercenaries Mode. Rather than the killer's redesign for the horror game Dead By Daylight, Ghostface's appearance for this mod resembles the original costume from the Scream movies as well as the original Halloween costume.
The Ghostface mod can be downloaded via GeorgeIE00's page on NexusMods. Looking at their page reveals other mods created by them, many involving the Resident Evil series. These mods include changing the Nightsister Zombie enemies from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order into Jill Valentine's model from the Resident Evil 3 remake. Others from Resident Evil titles include changing Leon into the Joker for the Resident Evil 2 remake, changing Leon into Isaac Clarke from Dead Space, and replacing Billy Coen in Resident Evil 0 with Edward Dewey, another character from the game.
Hopefully, Resident Evil Village fans will be seeing more from GeorgeIE00 in regards to mods for this title. There are plenty of other slasher killers that have potential when it comes to modding, as well as there being plenty of enemies that can be replaced with these mods. Until then, however, players have plenty of mods to explore and experience that the modding community has created for players to download and enjoy.
Resident Evil Village is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
