With the Eternal Calm, the world of Spira went through many changes. Some want to continue living as they did while Sin was around. Others are wanting to steer Spira into a new future at warp speed. Here are ten things that happened before the events of Final Fantasy X-2.

10 Yuna Learned To Hold Her Breath To Play Blitzball

After the defeat of Sin, Yuna decided to learn how to play blitzball. She started out by learning to hold her breath underwater and during Eternal Calm, she's able to hold her breath for 2 minutes and 41 seconds. She's even worked on her diving skills and Wakka complimented her on her hard work. By the time Final Fantasy X-2 starts, Yuna is able to hold her breath for five minutes and play blitzball. She's one of the starting players for Gullwings.

9 The People Of Spira Are Divided

With the creation of new factions, the people of Spira are divided on how to improve Spira's future. New Yevon was founded to keep the teachings of Yevon, but introduce new ideas gradually. Most of the elderly in Spira joined this faction because the world was moving too fast for them. The Youth League was a group mostly formed of young adults that sphere hunted to uncover Spira's past.

With two very different factions, it has caused some conflict in families. One man named Tasgio is the the grandfather of Yaibel and seeks Yuna's advice. He and his wife are part of New Yevon while Yaibel is part of the Youth League. He mentions that he's troubled because their family is divided and agree on very little. Sin's defeat may have brought the Eternal Calm, but new conflicts have risen.

8 The Youth League Tries To Recruit Yuna

With the Eternal Calm, two organizations were created and had very different visions of the future for Spira. The Youth League is under the leadership of Meyvn Nooj, an ex-Crusader. Yaibel, a member of the Youth League and appeared in Final Fantasy X-2, approaches Yuna and tells her he's there on behalf of Nooj.

Wakka tells him that Yuna is not interested in joining any faction. When Yaibel asks if Yuna will start her own group, she asks him to leave.

7 Wakka And Lulu Are Preparing For Parenthood

After the events of Final Fantasy X, Wakka and Lulu have married and settled in Besaid. Lulu is revealed to be pregnant while Wakka mentally prepares for fatherhood. He hasn't been training in blitzball like he used to and Yuna comments on how he's gained weight. When Rikku comes to visit, she also comments on his weight. She also mentions his weight when she and Yuna visit Besaid in Final Fantasy X-2.

Lulu isn't seen during Eternal Calm, but Wakka runs back to Besaid so Yuna could say bye before she left. Yuna doesn't wait and she departs with Rikku shortly after Wakka leaves.

6 A Proposal For Yuna

After her meeting Tasgio, Yuna is walking around Besaid Island and is approached by Wakka. He brings up that the villagers would like to see her get married. From Yuna's tone when she asks Wakka, "Who is it this time?" implies that this is not the first time she's been proposed to. Wakka tells her it's the Chairman of New Yevon's son. Yuna tells Wakka to tell the Chairman and his son no and that they would only use her.

Seeing as how Yuna is the savior of Spira, it would not be surprising if New Yevon wanted to use her celebrity status to elevate their image. Though Yuna tries to live a quiet life, she's fully aware of her status in the world and that some would like to use her for their own gain.

5 Kimarhi's New Role: Elder

With the Eternal Calm, Kimahri returned to Mt. Gagazet, the home of the Ronso. During the events of Final Fantasy X, Seymour slaughtered their leader, Maester Kelk Ronso and almost all of the Ronso tribe. Kimahri becomes the new leader of the Ronso and is said to be teaching the orphaned Ronso all kinds of stuff. He is the one that discovered the sphere that sent Yuna on her new journey.

4 Machina Use On The Rise And Al Bhed Acceptance

The Al Bhed are more accepted by the other races of Spira after Final Fantasy X. Rikku has spent most of her time salvaging ancient machina on Bikanel and teaches others how to use it. The other races of Spira have become more tolerable of the Al Bhed people and machina, but there is still some prejudice against them. The Machine Faction forms and hires others to go to Bikanel to salvage machina. They also provide machina to both the Youth League and New Yevon, and remain relatively neutral in their conflicts.

3 The Guado Flee To A Dying Macalania Woods

The deaths of most of their tribe is still fresh on the minds of the surviving Ronso and some want revenge. Knowing that they're not safe at their home, the Guado people left Guadosalam and fled to Macalania Woods. They accepted that they were not welcomed and admitted to their part in going along with Seymour Guado's schemes. Tromell, the former butler of Seymour, tells Yuna and her group that the Guado have decided to die along with Macalania Woods. Guadosalam was abandoned for quite some time, but was eventually used by the Leblanc Syndicate as their base.

2 Brother And Buddy's Bizarre Journey

Brother and Buddy might be supporting characters in Final Fantasy X-2, but they are the founders of the Gullwings along with Rikku. Shortly after the Eternal Calm started, Brother and Buddy heard about an airship that was in northern Spira. The two of them traveled there, but had to make their way through a sea of ice. A thick fog appeared and the duo lost their way. After the fog cleared up, the two men spotted a single gull and followed it.

The gull led the men right where the airship was. After this adventure, Brother and Buddy formed the Gullwings(named after the gull) and the airship was named the Celsius.

1 Yuna Runs Away From Besaid Island

Rikku comes to visit Yuna in Besaid Island to catch up with her and Wakka. After catching up with her and Wakka, Rikku shows Yuna a sphere that Kimahri found on Mt. Gagazet. The sphere shows a man that greatly resembles and sounds like Tidus. Wakka and Rikku talk about the sphere and try to figure out what it means. Yuna decides she wants to find out more about it and travel, but Wakka tries to talk her out of it. When Rikku questions him, he tries to tell Yuna to wait until things are calmer in Spira.

Rikku tells Wakka off and asks him what if things don't get calmer. Yuna decides to go through with her decision and leave with Rikku, wanting to do something for herself for once. With Rikku's help, she sets out on her new journey that leads to the beginning of Final Fantasy X-2.
