LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga already has DLC lined up, but there are some Star Wars properties that are mysteriously absent.

The release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has felt like it's been just falling short of the finish line for a long time now. After two years of public knowledge and a handful of delays along the way, there's no telling when the game is going to come out at this point. The continued hype around the game is not misplaced however, as LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga intends to be one of the most ambitious LEGO games yet. A lot of the details around the game convey just that, and developer Traveller's Tales has thought out the game so much that there's already information on The Skywalker Saga's DLC.

Trailers for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga have shown that it's set to be one of the biggest celebrations of everything Star Wars to ever be put into a video game, and the game's DLC is an extension of that. As the title suggests, the main focus of the game will be on the nine films in the saga, but the DLC serves to give smaller Star Wars stories some attention as well. With all of its offerings however, there are some huge aspects of the Star Wars franchise that are mysteriously absent from The Skywalker Saga's DLC.

The DLC in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga appears to be following the same structure of past LEGO DLCs. The game will be getting a series of character packs that will bolster its already immense list of playable characters, and it's likely that there will be at least one level to go along with each character pack. Considering how massive The Skywalker Saga character list already appears to be, it's possible that these DLCs could include more characters and perhaps more levels compared to past LEGO games. Either way, the offerings that have been listed so far sound pretty expansive.

Six DLC packs have been revealed so far, and although there aren't any specific details, fans at least have an idea of their themes. So far, there will be two packs based on The Mandalorian, one for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a Classic Characters pack, a Solo: A Star Wars Story pack, and finally a Star Wars: The Bad Batch pack. These DLCs appear to be giving the smaller stories of the galaxy the spotlight, but there's some pretty big pieces missing if LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is meant to celebrate all of Star Wars.

Perhaps one of the most egregious omissions from the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga DLC is the fan-favorite animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The series may have taken a moment to get its footing at first, but now it's such an integral part of the Star Wars canon that characters who debuted in the show have made appearances in live-action content. To think that The Skywalker Saga doesn't have any Clone Wars content immediately planned is a little shocking, especially because there would be no Bad Batch DLC without the series.

It's additionally confusing to think that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga doesn't immediately have The Clone Wars content planned considering there's already been a full-fledged game based on the show. LEGO Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars adapted the first couple of seasons of the show, and it's likely that Traveller's Tales still has a lot of the assets from that game. Even if it only wanted to add a handful of relevant characters, the inclusion of Ahsoka Tano or Captain Rex would probably be a big hit with a lot of fans.

In addition to The Clone WarsLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga appears to have left Star Wars: Rebels out of the game's DLC packs. Although it may not be as widely influential as The Clone WarsRebels was still a successful series in its own right. It introduced some compelling characters in Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus, and it brought fan-favorite characters like Grand Admiral Thrawn back from the pre-Disney Expanded Universe. Much like The Clone Wars, it took some time for Rebels to hit its stride, but when it did the show asserted itself as an important part of Star Wars canon.

Star Wars: Rebels may not have as much LEGO representation as The Clone Wars, but the show has still been featured in past LEGO Star Wars titles. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens had its own DLC pack dedicated to eight different characters from the show, so it's not like there's any reluctance from Traveller's Tales to put the show in its games. With how new LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is compared to LEGO Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars, it could be even easier to transfer the Rebels characters from there into The Skywalker Saga. It would probably make sense to give some updated models for the later seasons perhaps, but any representation is better than none at all.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has had its fair share of troubles, so Traveller's Tales might be more concerned with actually getting the game released than the fine details of its DLC. With how popular The Clone Wars and Rebels are, it's entirely possible that the developer could be holding on to two big DLC packs to give those series their proper attention. This is purely speculation, but it would be pretty strange for a Star Wars game that's meant to chronicle the best of the franchise to be missing some of its biggest pieces. Of course, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will have to come out first before fans can get an idea of what else Traveller's Tales might have in store.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
