Assassin's Creed Valhalla players should already be familiar with the Books of Knowledge scattered across the Viking world that grants them special abilities. There are two books for each ability, the first of which grants the player access to a level 1 version while the second Book of Knowledge increases that ability's strength greatly. It works the same way as conducting more trades increases a player's trade route access in Wrath of the Druids.
The first DLC for the Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Wrath of the Druids, adds three new special abilities for players to grab with six total Books of Knowledge. These abilities are the Smoke Bomb Arrow, the Irish Wolfhound, and the Vikingr Salute and their associated books are scattered all across Ireland.

The first of the Smoke Bomb Arrow Books of Knowledge is located in the Dublin Region of Wrath of the Druids on the island that is home to the only Raid option in the region. This ability does as its name suggests and allows the player to temporarily blind opponents with smoke bomb arrows and this first book is relatively straightforward to find.
Begin a raid and use your Odin's sense to direct your search. The book should be on a plinth in a room within the monastery. The second Book of Knowledge is located in central Ulster in Clogher and is definitely more of a challenge. Players must first locate a breakable wall (which is on the side and bottom of a drop off), use an oil jug or other explosive to get through it, and then move a large stone in the cave to reveal the ability.
The Irish Wolfhound ability gives players a furry but fierce friend to go to battle with when activated. The first Books of Knowledge for this ability is in the southeast of Ulster and to the east of Armagh, across the river. Players will encounter a burned town that is currently home to an alarming number of wolves.
As with similar puzzles in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the book rests in the basement of one of the ruined houses and players need to destroy a breakable floor to gain access to it. Once through the floor and into the basement, the ability rests on its usual plinth just a few steps inside.
The second Book of Knowledge for this ability is located in the western part of Connacht in a place known as Tuam. Hidden within a vast cave system, this Book of Knowledge is actually encountered naturally in the course of Wrath of the Druids' main story arc. But, for players who missed it or haven't gotten there yet, it is a relatively straightforward find.
First, locate the entrance to the caves (the stair symbol that pops up on the map) and head towards it. Once in the cave, players should follow the natural flow of the path but watch out for spike traps and a rogue bear. This leads directly to the main chamber near the end of the cave which is home to the book. It rests on a table inside.
The last of the new abilities and new systems in Assassin's Creed Valhalla Wrath of the Druids is the Vikingr Salute. This ability has the player headbutt opponents when activated and its first book is encountered when raiding Kells Abbey in Northern Meath. In the main church, there is a barred door that can be opened by an arrow shot from outside and through a metal grate wall.
The Book of Knowledge is inside this room on its usual plinth. The second book is in Dunseverick a fortress in the far north and east of Ulster. Players can gain easy access to this book by approaching the southern portion of the fortress and taking out a crane that is holding building supplies over an opening. This will crash down to the room that holds the Book of Knowledge and grant access to it. The ability is now just a climb away.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
