Marvel has mastered the art of combining comedic relief alongside moments of epic action and intense battle, as fans have seen in Ant-Man, or even Avengers: Endgame when Steve Rogers made the proud declaration that he is, in fact, the proud owner of “America’s ass.” Taking advantage of this format has proved to be successful for the MCU time and time again, so amping up the vulgarity of their films can definitely appeal to their audience.
Deadpool has been a smash hit since its release in 2016 and fans who grew up watching Marvel films were given the opportunity to see the content mature along with them. The original film made $738 million in the box office, with a budget of only $58 million, and has earned a sequel since the release of the first installment, with plans of a third film on the way.

Deadpool uses dark humor to create a morbid tone surrounding the entire series, while still delivering the same heart-warming (and totally brutal) emotions present within other popular superhero-focused films. Everyone loves the classic tale of the good guys beating the bad, but Deadpool doesn’t hesitate to blur the line between right and wrong. Even though Wade Wilson is the type of guy who can put a single bullet through multiple heads in just one shot, he’s also the type of guy fans want to root for. Murdering people by day and threatening pizza-man stalkers to defend the honor of young girls by night, the raunchy action-comedy style of Deadpool could diversify the characters within the MCU and create a whole new layer for the worldwide empire.
Adding such a drastic twist into the traditional superhero narrative will be a bold move on Marvel’s part since they'll be straying from the profitable format they are used to, but it proved to be a fruitful decision in the end. An R-rated MCU Deadpool movie is on the horizon, and it will be more than a little bit strange to see this violent, fourth-wall-breaking mutant integrate with the rest of the MCU.
Deadpool is far more graphic than anything the MCU has done before and he doesn’t fit the content advisory standards given to other MCU productions, like Spider-Man or Thor. Part of the reason Marvel fans love the movies so much is because of the connections woven throughout all the films that bind everything together in a single, cohesive universe. Bringing in some of the X-men and breaking the 4th wall have been some of the most hilarious moments in the Deadpool series so far, emphasizing just how different Marvel’s classic heroes are from the ones like Wade Wilson.
Expanding the R-rated horizons and bringing in new heroes with the same mentality and love of crass language as Deadpool would be a great way to build upon the character variation within the MCU, and would also allow for Marvel to start bringing Deadpool to life outside of his own franchise.
In the comics, Marvel has come up with some pretty strange and downright crazy characters, much like the totally insane but extremely loveable Deadpool. A lot of these bizarre heroes didn't get fans buzzing when they made their debut in the world of Marvel Comics, but giving them the chance to embrace their wackiness on screen might be just the thing they need to make fans appreciate all their strange quirks. Ringmaster, for example, would be a great addition. Although he wasn’t created to be a hero, Ringmaster has the potential to be another Deadpool-esque character in terms of struggling to find the right balance between good and bad.
Ringmaster uses his band of criminals to steal copious amounts of wealth under the guise of a traveling circus. Ringmaster uses his hat to hypnotize his victims and convince them to do whatever he wants, and he’s had quite a few run-ins with current popular MCU heroes. Spider-Man, Daredevil, Scarlet Witch, The Hulk, and even the Mandarin have all come in contact with Ringmaster, making him the perfect candidate for an R-rated comedy of his own. Obviously, Ringmaster’s whole show-biz persona is absolutely ridiculous, so the MCU writers could have quite a field day bringing his character to life in a way that’s both funny and just a little disturbing.
Setting Ringmaster up as another anti-hero in the MCU would also make him a great partner for Deadpool, and could serve as the perfect catalyst to unite these R-rated characters with the rest of the MCU. Deadpool 3 is rumored to have more connections to the Marvel Universe, besides the time spent with the X-men. Bringing new bawdy characters into the fold would be the perfect way to capitalize on the provocative gold-mine that is Deadpool, while building bridges between the last few MCU pieces that have yet to be put together.
