After first being announced back in 2019, the debut gameplay trailer for iOS and Android title Story of Seasons: Mobile has been released.

Story of Seasons: Mobile was first announced back in 2019. The project seemed enticing to many, as there has yet to be a mobile release in the mainline series. Now, two years later, the farming life simulation game has received a debut trailer that showcases gameplay, story elements, and more.

Story of Seasons used to be known as Harvest Moon. The branding change is something that comes with plenty of opportunities for publisher Marvelous, developer NExT Studios, and technology conglomerate Tencent. Story of Seasons saw its first formal game in North America in 2014 on the 3DS, and now it has a big opportunity with an iOS and Android release.

The trailer starts with a character being dropped off a train and seemingly embarking on a brand new journey to a place named Xingulo Town. The gameplay in the trailer includes chopping down trees for resources, fishing, collecting goods from farm animals, planting crops, and much more. In line with the "seasons" element set in the name of the series, this trailer shows a day and night cycle as well, where the character seems to go on a date and even star gazing.

For those who are unfamiliar with the farming and life-simulator, Story of Seasons may draw comparisons to Animal Crossing: New Horizons or games like Stardew Valley. However, where the mobile version of the Animal Crossing might not be the most complex, Story of Seasons: Mobile looks like it could be quite the fleshed-out experience based on this trailer alone.

On top of working on Story of Seasons: Mobile, the team behind the series is continuing to develop and support Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town with expansions. Pioneers of Olive Town is the latest game in the series, released for Nintendo Switch. Story of Seasons competes head-to-head with games like the aforementioned Animal Crossing: New Horizons in some ways, but it has more breathing room apart from that large-selling behemoth while on the mobile.

Story of Seasons does have competition on mobile, however, as the platform is filled with farming and life-simulators, including the Story of Seasons and Harvest Moon-influenced Stardew Valley. The games have now learned from each other, and the Story of Seasons: Mobile trailer clearly resembles elements of Stardew Valley, which may point to it likely finding similar success.

Story of Seasons: Mobile is currently in development for iOS and Android.
