Vice President and Head of Global Third Party Relations at PlayStation, Christian Svensson, has recently teased the release of third party games coming to PlayStation consoles in the near-future. This comes after comments from Sony executives revealed a host of new games coming to PlayStation 5, with many of them being new IPs, making PlayStation's catalog all the more impressive in the coming years.
With the list of games made exclusively for the PlayStation 5 being relatively small, fans of the console have been waiting with bated breath to hear about new releases. Many of the games available for PlayStation 5 are backwards compatible PlayStation 4 titles, meaning that for those who want to see the PS5's full breadth of features, the examples are fairly limited. Recent confirmation of over 25 PS5 games, with around half of those being new IPs, means that fans already had a lot to look forward to, however, new comments indicate that there is even more to come.

Svensson, responding to a post about the 25 new PS5 games on the way, stated "Just wait until you see what’s coming from our third party partners too." With Svensson's response building directly upon the announcement of the huge amount of new titles coming to PlayStation, Sony are likely gearing up for a big year of games. Demand for the PS5 is already at incredible levels, with a combination of factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic and difficulty acquiring semiconductors for manufacturers, causing a scarcity in next-gen consoles.
Demand will likely go up with this announcement, making the already impossible to acquire PS5 even more of a rare commodity. With games like God of War Ragnorok and Horizon Forbidden West already confirmed for the console, as well as a number of indie games, such as Kena: Bridge of Spirits, a slew of third party titles on top of these will surely see a further increase in sales.
This move shows that Sony aren't just resting on their laurels by keeping things in-house, with a willingness to take chances on indies and third party releases often meaning players get a more varied experience from their games. The expansion of the PlayStation 5's catalog will be welcome for anyone who has managed to get their hands on it, however, as many of the games are being developed with the intent of being playable on PS4 as well, it means that gamers who haven't been lucky enough to snag a PS5 will still be able to get excited about this latest bit of information.
