Resident Evil: Village has already seen some pretty ridiculous Nexus Mods. Here's a look at some of the absolute weirdest.

Mods fulfill a variety of functions for a video game. Depending on the title, mods often vary wildly in their utility, but generally tend to be quite useful. However, there is no denying that certain mods are laughably ridiculous in their scope. For the newly released Resident Evil Village, some truly bizarre mods already exist.

Weird mods tend to lean heavily on the comedic side of things. Resident Evil Village has its fair share of grimness and macabre imagery. Thus, it was only a matter of time before some mod authors took it upon themselves to lighten up the proceedings. What follows are some of the more inspired choices one can find on Nexus.

8 Count Theodora

This particular mod can be seen as hysterical or equally terrifying, depending on one's preferences. Lady Dimitrescu became a fan favorite even before the game was released due to her justifiably unsettling appearance. The Count Theodora mod takes a rather different approach when it comes to artistic style.

The mod swaps out Dimitrescu's head and replaces it with Thomas the Tank Engine. Humorously, these Thomas mods possess their own sort of sub-history. Gamers may remember a similar mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which substituted the dragons with Thomas. Resident Evil 2 also possesses a mod that replaces Mr. X with the loveable children's train.

7 Mini Me Chris

Chris Redfield has had some ups and downs throughout the Resident Evil series. As a longtime franchise stalwart, fans were legitimately eager to know what Chris's role was going to be in Resident Evil Village. What fans may not have expected was the hilarious preponderance of mods poking fun at Chris.

One such mod is titled Mini Me Chris. It replaces Rosemary's head, i.e. that of a baby, with one belonging to an adult Chris Redfield. The result can potentially be interpreted as true horror at its very finest.

6 Banana Gun & Spoon Knife

Resident Evil Village is certainly one of the more action-oriented entries in the series. A wide range of weapons is available to Ethan as he cuts his way through legions of dangerous enemies. One of the most basic tools at Ethan's disposal is the standard handgun and the knife.

Instead of guns and knives, how about bananas and spoons? The Banana Gun and Spoon Knife mod replace the regular implements with pieces of fruit and silverware, respectively. Besides the aesthetic difference, they operate the same way. Now, enemies can be filled with lead and potassium.

5 Lady X

Fans of the series no doubt remember both iterations of Resident Evil 2's Mr. X. A Tyrant in a trenchcoat, Mr. X's primary function is to stalk both Leon and Claire throughout their exploration of the police station. In Resident Evil Village, Lady Dimitrescu performs a similar function.

Apparently, one mod author thought to combine the two. The aptly named Lady X mod replaces Dimitrescu's pale skin with that of a Tyrant. It's a silly, albeit somewhat horrific image that seeks to merge two of the franchise's most popular baddies.

4 Spongebob Paintings

One of the prime ingredients to crafting a great horror experience is an immersive atmosphere. Castle Dimitrescu nails its Dracula-esque ambiance almost perfectly. In particular, paintings and portraits can be found nearly everywhere mounted throughout the walls of the castle.

Luckily, Ethan doesn't have to stare at these bleak and creepy paintings all the time. The Spongebob Paintings mod removes the works of art and replaces them with scenes from the SpongeBob SquarePants TV show. It serves to make the intimidating castle less creepy and assuredly more silly.

3 Baby Over Chris Face

Yet another example of a mod that can be hilarious or nightmare-inducing depending on one's point of view. Chris Redfield's appearance undergoes another dramatic change as this mod serves as the antithesis to the previously mentioned Mini Me Chris.

The Baby Over Chris Face mod goes the other direction. Chris's normal head is swapped out in favor of one belonging to an infant, namely Rosemary. The rest of Chris's hulking frame remains unchanged, leaving players with an image they won't soon forget.

2 Fly Swatter's

A knife is a pretty useful weapon to have on hand, especially in Ethan's case. If the concept of carrying around a spoon in place of a knife was simply too ridiculous to fathom, then the Fly Swatter's mod may not be much of an improvement.

Obviously, the game still considers the object a knife, but that's not how the player needs to look at it. Various YouTubers are already having quite a bit of fun with this mod treating the knife as if it really were an actual fly swatter.

1 Lady Wong

A lot of mods, particularly those with a sillier bent, tend to focus on Lady Dimitrescu. A common trope (as the reader has already seen) for many of these ridiculous mods usually entails combining the features of two separate characters.

Enter the Lady Wong mod. Instead of being stalked by the mistress of the castle, players will find themselves being chased by a gigantic Ada Wong. Her signature red dress from Resident Evil 2 is also included, just in case anyone has trouble recognizing her.
