Mackie is definitely feeling that "Best Hero" award and the new Captain America wants Tom Holland to know which Avenger is in charge now.

Anthony Mackie is living the Marvel dream now that the new Captain America’s reveal party, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, just got him his first tub of golden popcorn at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards. With the victory under his belt, the new Cap wants Tom Holland to know he’s coming for him.

As the MCU enters the waters of Phase 4, it’s clear that there will be a change in leadership for Marvel’s Avengers after Tony Stark’s death and Steve Rogers’ retirement, two positions that seem tailor-made for Holland and Mackie, who played each man’s protégés for many years. Although the complications of Spider-Man being a Sony property do hinder Peter Parker’s chances of becoming Marvel’s commanding officer, it’s clear the web-swinging superhero was immensely more popular than Mackie’s Falcon.

However, now that Mackie’s got a firm grip on Steve Rogers’ shield and his fancy vibranium suit, the new Captain America is making sure his voice is heard. During his acceptance speech for “Best Hero” at MTV’s award ceremony, Mackie sent out a loud and clear message to Spider-Man by telling the entire world, “Tom Holland, I’m on your ass boy!” Thus, Mackie has prolonged the pair’s ongoing feud that started back when Captain America: Civil War was being filmed.

Of course, this tussle between Captain America and Spider-Man is no more real than vibranium itself and the two actors have been poking fun at each other’s expense for five years now as part of a fake public dispute. It all started due to Mackie teasing Holland over his age and boyish looks, constantly signaling “juice breaks” during filming, but the latter has never really missed an opportunity to publicly diss the former Falcon over his support staff status in the MCU, even though they’re really good friends in real life.

Now that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has proven to be Disney Plus' streaming champion ahead of WandaVision, it’s clear Mackie’s popularity is on the rise and he’ll undoubtedly be relishing the next chance put on his Captain America suit, whether it’s in his own movie or another Marvel production. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Far From Home will probably have a lot to say about Holland's fate in the MCU for the next couple of years, and it may even impact Spider-Man 2's PS5 release.

Despite Mackie’s role as Sam Wilson nabbing him a personal win, WandaVision still clinched the most victories in the categories for which the series was nominated, including “Best Show.” Regardless of which of these two anyone prefers, both could soon be surpassed by the god of mischief, as Loki continues to tease its imminent premiere.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now available on Disney Plus.
