These tips can take any player from a fumbling fopdoodle to a thriving teammate in a Robin Hood-esque criminal enterprise.

The tale of Robin Hood holds a special place in the hearts of many. After all, a story of a generous hero that steals from the rich and gives to the poor is one that many - excluding the wealthy - find heartwarming. However, while the legend is often portrayed in a vibrant and lighthearted tone, its reality is gloomier. Hood: Outlaws & Legends touches upon the darker aspects of this tale and turns it into a thrilling PvPvE game.

Upon playing, new players will discover that the game is considerably complex requiring extensive thought and planning ahead. Even experienced players will encounter various difficulties throughout matches. Fortunately, there are numerous ways that players can improve their performance and ensure victory.

10 Cooperate Thoroughly With Your Team

Robin Hood did not complete great heists alone as he depended on his band of thieves. Despite the game's differences, the same concept applies to players who must coordinate their efforts. A team that does not function as a whole is prone to creating unbalanced teams, executing unsuccessful assaults, and overall losing matches. This is why players must plan ahead to work efficiently.

Cooperative teams will benefit greatly from their coordination. Working together allows players to designate roles and create well-rounded teams. Moreover, balanced teams allow greater versatility in combat and in strategizing. Effective teams will rarely ever meet failure and when they do it is a result of skill rather than a team's efficiency.

9 Do Not Use Every Class

Hood: Outlaws & Legends provides players with four unique classes: the Ranger, the Hunter, the Brawler, and the Mystic. Each class serves a certain role and playstyle during heists. While every class is outstanding in their field players would benefit more from focusing on one or two. As with most class-based games it is best not to use a vast variety of characters.

While adaptability is good using too many characters dilutes a player's skill, especially in Hood: Outlaws & Legends. Using at most two classes allows players to use them skillfully while providing versatility in team building. In addition, each class levels up separately which proves to be detrimental when using multiple characters. To access new perks players must level up their classes which require a great deal of time and effort. In the end, it is best to put effort into one or two classes.

8 Understand Each Classes Strengths & Weaknesses

Every class functions exceedingly well in certain situations or circumstances. However, when these conditions are not met players find themselves at a disadvantage against enemies. For instance, the Brawler excels in close-quarter combat but struggles against ranged foes. For this reason, it is important to understand the pros and cons of each class.

Knowing each character's strengths and weaknesses allows players to protect themselves and exploit enemies. Understanding what situations may be unfavorable will save players from strenuous confrontation. Knowing what an opponent's weaknesses are and how to use them will allow players to dispatch them easily. To learn about each class players will require direct exposure either by using them or facing them.

7 Understand The Combat System

Hood: Outlaws & Legends typically reward players for being stealthy, but combat is an inevitability. Regardless of class or playstyle players will encounter enemies and be forced to engage. While the combat system seems simple, there are many complex aspects that players must consider. Combat features a variety of ways to attack or protect against opponents. Meaning that simply spamming an attack will not deter advanced enemies but instead, hinder the player.

The three important elements that players must be aware of are their stamina use, timing, and surroundings. Stamina fuels nearly every action players make and without it they are open to attack. With careful consideration, players can conserve stamina by timing their attacks and parries or dodges to quickly eliminate opponents. Finally, players must be observant of the surrounding area for NPCs, incoming enemy players, or unfavorable conditions.

6 Tread Carefully & Covertly

Stealth greatly benefits players regardless of their class or playstyle. While the enemy team seems to be the greatest threat NPCs provide the most challenge. Guards are tasked with defending the treasure from players regardless of their team. They patrol the map searching for players and once a player is spotted other guards - and players - are alerted. This will draw guards to the player and may even notify the enemy team of their location.

Being spotted results in a domino effect of mishaps that may cost players the game. Spotted players lose their ability to gauge progress and are tagged for others to see until they escape. Even when players manage to slip away, they have without a doubt wasted time and resources to do so. Moreover, the enemy team will have an opportunity to plan an ambush. Despite the temptation of rushing into battle players must exercise caution and remain hidden.

5 Never Attack Head-On

Even in the direst of situations, players must not resort to direct confrontation with enemy players or guards. As stated before, sneaking is the most beneficial way to maneuver around the map. Staying hidden from guards and opponents alike is the safest way to collect the treasure. Facing enemies head-on will alert guards and leave players open for attack. No matter how experienced players may be a direct attack is hardly ever beneficial.

Regardless of class players would benefit more from stealthily ambushing, flanking, or assassinating enemies. Ambushes and flanks allow players to attack unsuspecting enemies without much resistance. Even assassinating while it is more difficult grants players the opportunity to instantly kill foes. Each of these strategies offers players safer and quicker methods for eliminating opponents rather than risking prolonged battles.

4 Take Any Opportunity To Gain Advantage

Hood: Outlaws & Legends offers players many opportunities to mess up or move ahead. While players should obviously avoid deterrents, they should also take any advantage presented to them. Often players will avoid certain favorable circumstances in order to focus on the main objective or pursue another goal. However, capitalizing on a beneficial situation or an enemy's mistakes can end games much sooner.

For example, if an enemy gathers the attention of guards most players would use this time to further their progress. While that is an effective strategy using this moment to attack would prove to be much better. Even taking seemingly simple advantages like capturing spawn points can give players an edge over enemies. Regardless of how insignificant something may seem if it can benefit players then it is an advantage worth taking.

3 Use NPCs Against Opponents

NPCs have only one objective in mind, kill any player that attempts to infiltrate the vault. Meaning that guards will attack each team's players indiscriminately. This offers a unique opportunity for players to take advantage of the NPC's general aggression. While it is an effective strategy it requires extensive experience with the guards to do it properly.

Players can use NPCs as a defense or obstacle against enemy players. For instance, if an opponent is pursuing a player, they can carefully maneuver through hostile territory for protection. Additionally, players can lead the insurmountable Sheriff directly to enemy players to slow their advances. While it is dangerous advanced players can turn the odds in their favor using NPCs.

2 Learn Every Map

Hood: Outlaws & Legends features six maps for players to enjoy. Each map holds different layouts and structures that offer various advantages and disadvantages. Learning each map and what it has to offer is an important element when playing the game. It grants players insight into various shortcuts, strategies, and resources available to them.

Knowing a map's layout will allow players to plan for possible deterrents or benefits they will have. Some maps may provide ample resources and room for movement while others do not. In addition, some classes may perform better or worse depending on the map. For example, the map Marshland - Newton Abbas is very open providing Rangers with numerous sniping positions. Learning each map's layout will require a lot of time but the advantage it provides is worth it.

1 Be Resourceful

Every character has their own unique abilities and gear that help them in battle. However, these helpful elements cannot be used extensively. Abilities require time before they are available and gear must be collected throughout the map. The limited quantity of these features punishes players that use them too quickly.

While it may be tempting to use these resources immediately it is best to conserve them, especially abilities. Gear provides players with a way to escape or overcome certain overwhelming situations. In addition, abilities are capable of granting powerful effects to players or inflicting phenomenal damage to enemies. It is important to note when players should use their gear and abilities or else they will be left helpless without it.
