With the AK-47 now a viable weapon inside of Call of Duty: Warzone, loadout expert NICKMERCS provides fans with a second build for the gun.

While Call of Duty: Warzone will always have a meta, Raven Software has been doing a fine job in recent weeks when it comes to balancing. As a result, many more weapons are viable, and pro player NICKMERCS has quickly realized the lethality of the AK-47 in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Specifically, gamers will want to use the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War variant of the iconic Assault Rifle. This is NICKMERCS’ second AK-47 setup, as his first was released late last month. In the previous build, NICKMERCS prioritized speed with the gun. Essentially turning it into an SMG, the setup was solid, though clearly, the pro believes there is a better setup out there. As a result, his new loadout loses some speed in favor of dealing some extra damage.

The partial owner of FaZe does state that the SMG version of the gun is still strong, with the damage being “up there with the best of them” and the “headshot TTK through the roof.” Still, he does recommend giving the max damage build a try, as NICKMERCS details several strong performances with the gun. While he still uses it as a secondary to support something like the PKM LMG, he does consider it a “viable option” for any kind of build. As always, he lets players see his loadout, which includes the following attachments.

Intriguingly, NICKMERCS equips the AK-47 with a Microflex LED optic. While the pro often uses the Axial Arms 3x scope in his other Call of Duty; Warzone loadouts, he is using the AK-47 as a secondary, which makes sense of this sight. If players want to use the gun at close range, this is a fine choice. Both the 20” Spetsnaz RPK barrel and the GRU Suppressor heavily boost the gun’s effectiveness from a distance, with the latter also adding some bullet velocity. While the use of both makes the gun slower and bulkier, it is a faster killer at short-mid range.

The KGB Skeletal Stock is also used on NICKMERCS’ setup, which is not too surprising given that it is one of his favorite attachments. With the gun being slower, the boost to ADS firing speed and sprint to fire times is a must. Finally, Call of Duty: Warzone fans will want to throw on 45 Rnd mags. While they provide a boost to clip size, they do not slow the gun down as much as some other attachments, with the result being a well-rounded gun that can do it all.

  • Barrel: 20” Spetsnaz RPK
  • Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
  • Optic: Microflex LED
  • Ammunition: 45 Rnd
  • Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock

With the AK-47 having a great TTK in Call of Duty: Warzone, there is a lot to love about the weapon. While it may not be the best of the best, it is absolutely still worth a look.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
