Kate Hudson has joined the A-list celebrity cast of Knives Out 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to Rian Johnson’s acclaimed murder mystery.

The executives at Netflix must be busy since several new announcements related to the casting of Knives Out 2 have been coming out in just the past few days. Another A-list celebrity has now joined the ever-growing cast of the highly-anticipated sequel to Rian Johnson’s murder-mystery. It's Kate Hudson.

Plot details are being kept a secret for now, so it is unclear what role Hudson will be seen playing in the film. The only piece of information that is confirmed is that James Bond star Daniel Craig will be reprising his role as the brilliant detective Benoit Blanc to solve yet another mystery. Shooting on Knives Out 2 is expected to begin this summer in Greece, which is probably why the casting news keeps rolling.

Apart from Hudson, other actors to recently join the cast of Knives Out 2 are Kathryn Hahn, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Edward Norton, and Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr. Each of their roles have not been revealed thus far, but looking at the first film in the franchise, they will all probably be playing pivotal roles in the murder mystery. A few may even be suspects in whatever crime Blanc must solve.

Knives Out, which released in 2019 and went on to become a huge success at the box office, saw Craig’s Blanc investigate the death of the patriarch of a wealthy family. The Thrombey family consisted of some stellar actors, including Captain America's Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer, and many others. Plummer’s Harlan is the one murdered after his 85th birthday party, with his caretaker discovering his body the next morning. While it is first believed to be a suicide, Blanc is convinced that it was a murder and arrives at the family’s property to investigate, only to find each of them has reason to be angry with Harlan.

A similar case is what fans are expecting to be the central theme of Knives Out 2, with each of the cast members perhaps representing a different member of a new fictional family. It is known that none of the Thrombey family members will be returning for the sequel since it will focus on an entirely new case that has no connection to that of Knives Out.

Earlier this year, Netflix won the rights to two Knives Out sequels in a deal that cost the streaming service over $450 million. The agreement reportedly gives Johnson a substantial amount of creative control as well.

Knives Out 2 will start production this summer and release exclusively on Netflix.
