Bandai Namco confirmed that it will only retell the origin story of future trunks and that the expansion would not feature the transition to Dragon Ball Super territory.

Although the limitations of the DLC may be disappointing to some fans, it is understandable that Bandai Namco will not feature storylines from Dragon Ball Super, given that the main game only covers the events of Dragon Ball Z. According to the tweet's caption, players would have to destroy these drones in time. Failure to do so would sound an alarm that would call upon Android 17 and 18 to fight against players. It is worth remembering that in this timeline, Goku is dead, and Future Trunks and Gohan are not powerful warriors. This is why taking down the drones in time to avoid direct confrontation with the androids should make players feel hunted and vulnerable, which perfectly captures the state that Future Trunks and Gohan finds themselves in this alternate timeline.

Although the exact release date of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's third DLC remains a mystery, Bandai Namco promised that it would launch in the early summer of 2021.
