Call of Duty: Warzone's Kar98k is a popular bolt-action rifle that can have devastating power on the battlefield at multiple ranges.

When the Kar98k was released for Call of Duty: Warzone, it was almost immediately a success. Many fans found ways to optimize its attachments and make it a vital part of their loadout. Several seasons later, the Kar98k is still a prominent weapon in the Call of Duty: Warzone meta.

As a marksman rifle from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the Kar98k is a powerful long-range option that is designed for precision over speed. Many Call of Duty: Warzone fans found it in the meta due to its accuracy, low recoil, and one-hit-kill potential, with some clips featuring shots at over 400 meters without significant bullet drop. Players who learned to optimize the weapon's strengths often found it to be a vital addition to loadouts despite several nerfs.

The Kar98k is a German bolt-action rifle that has appeared in many Call of Duty titles. This weapon is chambered in 7.92 Mauser ammo and is extremely lethal in the hands of a precise marksman. In Call of Duty: Warzone, the Kar98k can one-shot players from the chest up, and proper attachment builds can increase the weapon's lethality. While it is classed as a marksman rifle, the gun can easily go toe-to-toe with full sniper rifles and other long-range options.

Considering that the weapon is a bolt-action, the gun does suffer from a slower firing speed. Despite this, players have easily dominated entire teams by carefully pacing their shots with only one bullet per enemy needed for a wipe. This made it a major Call of Duty: Warzone meta weapon when it was initially released, and since then, it has received a nerf to damage and accuracy. This has not prevented the players from carefully picking their attachments and still utilizing this weapon in 1984 Verdansk.

The Kar98k can have several Call of Duty: Warzone loadout variations depending on the range and use that the player intends. The foundation that most loadouts follow revolves around the muzzle and barrel selection. As far as the muzzle goes, players tend to rely on suppressors as their go-to selections. Call of Duty: Warzone's Monolithic Suppressor offers both damage increases and silenced shots, but the tactical and lightweight suppressor options are often selected as lighter alternatives. Meanwhile, some players wield the muzzle brake as an additional damage increase for this rifle.

Barrels tend to be a unanimous decision as the rifle will benefit from a longer option. Most Call of Duty: Warzone fan loadouts run either the 25.1" Singuard Custom or the 27.6" Singuard Custom. While there is a negligible difference between the two, some fans argue that the shorter version offers an advantage in close conflicts. Meanwhile, other fans often prioritize longer barrels for a higher bullet velocity.

Once a barrel and suppressor have been selected, players really begin to customize their loadouts for this weapon. Many players prefer the Call of Duty: Warzone Sniper Scope as their default optic and run a tac laser for additional accuracy boosts. While rear grips are generally necessary for this weapon, a stock can increase mobility making it easier to shift positions. Fans are recommended to avoid the Bipod option and instead invest their attention in perks like FMJ, Recon, and Frangible.

If a player wants to run the Kar98k as their primary, then they will want to focus on mobility within the core build. This means wielding a pistol as a secondary and grabbing perks that allow for quick and tactical repositioning. This doubles into tactical and lethal items as maneuverability and distraction is a sniper's best tool in Call of Duty: Warzone. As long as a player can remain hidden and aims well, the Kar98k will do the job and finish off most opponents.

Players should prioritize the perks Double Time and Cold Blooded for their loadouts in Call of Duty: Warzone. Double Time allows for longer sprinting, while cold-blooded will allow a player to hide from thermal sights. The second perk should be either Ghost, High Alert, or Overkill. Ghost will hide a player from Call of Duty: Warzone UAVs, while High Alert alerts snipers to other potential threats. Overkill can be used to replace the pistol with a secondary weapon allowing for a close-quarters alternative to the Kar98k. Finally, players can use Tracker as their third perk to gain an advantage while pursuing enemy positions.

Flash, Stun, and Smoke grenades are amazing tools for repositioning and frontal assault. When compared to other tactical options, these will get players out of most conflict, allowing for a chance to get away and repursue in long-range encounters. As for lethal options, Call of Duty: Warzone loadouts often recommend a Semtex or Claymore, depending on whether a player is offensive or defensive. A Claymore can easily guard a camping player in solo situations, while a Semtex is great for catching enemies off guard and eliminating problematic targets. Do note that a Semtex can be handy when stopping riot shield users and hidden targets.

  • Muzzle - Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel - Singuard Custom 27.6"
  • Optic - Sniper Scope
  • Laser - Tac Laser
  • Perk - FMJ

This weapon attachment loadout prioritizes range and stealth. Players can trust the suppressor and barrel combination for bullet velocity, while the FMJ perk offers an additional kick in damage. The Tac Laser helps with recoil reduction and can aid players in hitting tricky targets. Call of Duty: Warzone loadouts that build this direction should either take Cold Blooded, Ghost, or Overkill and Tracker as their preferred perks. Smoke Grenades and Semtex are recommended, and players should pair this weapon with either an SMG or Assault Rifle when given the opportunity.

The Kar98k will continue to hold its position as a trusted marksman rifle within the competitive meta. Call of Duty: Warzone's meta has shifted from season to season, but the Kar98k holds its ground as a mobile and lethal long-range option. While many snipers can sport more damage, this attachment combination can compensate, allowing the Kar98k to be one of the most precise rifles in the battle royale competitive environment.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
