The waters of Subnautica: Below Zero are filled with ancient artifacts, but some of the most mysterious are the two obelisks found deep inside caves.

As players scour the icy depths of Subnautica: Below Zero's dangerous waters, they can discover mysterious artifacts, building materials, and some of the most dangerous underwater creatures in Subnautica. Some of the items that players can find are ancient technology with an unknown purpose, like the two obelisks that can be found.

When scanned, these ancient artifacts have an unknown use. They are just two of the many Ancient Architect's artifacts in Subnautica: Below Zero. Based on the strong magnetic field surrounding both, the scan postulates that they may have been used for energy transfers, communication, or a scientific instrument used to study the surrounding areas. Whatever they were used for, these are some interesting items to find and scan that add depth to the mysterious Planet 4546B.

These large structures in Subnautica: Below Zero are made of a central obelisk surrounded by four pillars that either feed into or are fed from the central section. The whole thing glows green, and considering their massive size, they shouldn't be that hard to find. But unfortunately for players, both are buried in caves with several entrances, so they can be difficult to track down in spite of their glow and size.

The first obelisk is located in the Deep Twisty Bridge area of the map. When leaving the Delta Station Beacons, head northwest for about 350 meters. Since it is quite a distance to swim with all those dangerous creatures out in the water, players may first want to build one of the many Subnautica: Below Zero vehicles that can be made before heading out. Look for the first of the Twisty Bridges that give this location its name, then head to the right of it. There will be a Alterra Tech Site there; head for it. Once at the Site, head south, looking for a cave entrance at 330 meters down. This cave will have the first obelisk at the end of it.

Starting again at the Delta Station Beacon, swim 600 meters to the west. There will be two large entrances to the kelp caves, both winding and filled with yellow green plants. These caves are very twisty and have a lot of turns and unexpected twists, but there is really only one path through them. If players don't get turned around, they will find the obelisk at the end of the cave's length. Make sure to scan this interesting artifact as it may become a useful thing to scan in Subnautica: Below Zero in the future.

Subnautica: Below Zero is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
