Destiny 2 developers state that players who abuse a glitch to knock bosses off ledges will be disqualified from Vault of Glass First World Raid

Bungie's first-person MMO, Destiny 2, has been building up to the rerelease of one of its classic raids, Vault of Glass, for some time now, with fans eagerly awaiting the return of the event on May 22nd. Some fans may be disappointed to learn however, that they wont be getting a free ride, with the Destiny 2 developers becoming aware of a bug that allows players to push certain raid bosses off ledges, and disqualifying them if the glitch is used in the raid's Contest Mode.

Vault of Glass was the first raid released for the original Destiny, implemented in a September 2014 update to the game. The raid was not only the game's first, but also one of its most popular raids, and fans have been looking forward to its return to the game. Accompanying the addition of the raid to Destiny 2, Bungie are also adding a new Contest Mode, which will hand out various prizes to players who are among the first to clear Vault of Glass.

Bungie's Tweet states that they have "identified an issue where players can potentially push Raid Bosses off of ledges," and goes on to note that players will be disqualified if this glitch is used during the Vault of Glass raid's Contest Mode. Destiny 2 fans were surprised by the news, not because of the disqualification, but because the ability to push bosses off of ledges has been in the game for some time, among other ways to trivialize Destiny 2 bosses. Notably, a way to knock the Consecrated Mind boss off a ledge and kill him instantly was discovered back in 2019, and appears to still be in the game to this day.

Destiny 2's new Contest Mode is open for 24 hours after Vault of Glass launches, allowing players who complete the raid within that time to earn a unique Triumph, called Tempo's Edge. If they are the first in the world to complete the raid, a World First Title and a real-life belt, with 'World First' and their in-game name emblazoned on it. Completing the raid before the 25th of May will allow players to purchase a Raid Ring, and beating it before June 1st will allow them to buy a Raid Jacket. These prizes are likely why Bungie is taking this glitch so seriously, as it will impact its ability to give them out fairly.

It is entirely understandable that Bungie wants to make sure that the people who complete the world-first challenge for Vault of Glass have done so properly. Having said that, it is amusing that the Destiny developers have taken so long to notice that certain bosses can be dispatched so easily, with fans pushing many bosses to their untimely demise over the years without Bungie batting an eyelid. Despite this glitch, fans seem excited to get back to Vault of Glass, and enjoy Destiny's first raid in a whole new way.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
