Outriders is shaping up to be one of 2021's biggest looter shooters, and People Can Fly is dropping the game's price for a limited time.

It has been over a month since Square Enix and People Can Fly released Outriders, and the game is shaping up to be one of the biggest looter shooters this year. Several days ago, People Can Fly announced that Outriders was able to surpass 3.5 million unique players, which is an impressive milestone for a game that's just a month old.

Luckily for players who remain undecided whether to pick up the game, People Can Fly is currently offering a huge discount that drops Outriders' price to $44.99 or 25% off its original price of $59.99. It is worth noting that this discount applies to all platforms the game is on and will run for only a week, so players who are interested in getting the game for cheap should take advantage of this deal now. Additionally, this is the first time Outriders got a price reduction outside of the deal offered by Microsoft to Xbox Live Gold subscribers.

The success of Outriders is hardly surprising given the excitement of fans of the genre before the game's release. For the uninitiated, Outriders is a third-person looter shooter game with all the action-packed gameplay that players can expect from the genre. However, People Can Fly also mixed in elements from role-playing and MMO games, offering players a highly customizable experience. The game revolves around an advanced party of colonists called Outriders, who arrived at the alien planet of Enoch after leaving Earth on the verge of destruction.

Upon arriving at the alien planet, the Outriders discovered a mysterious energy storm called the Anomaly, leaving most of the units wiped out. Those who survived the phenomenon were left altered with superhuman abilities. In Outriders, players get to choose between four classes: The Trickster, which specializes in close-range combat; the Technomancer, a long-range specialist; the Pyromancer, a medium-range class that has the ability to manipulate fire; and the Devastator, serving as the tank in the game. All four classes offer players certain advantages over enemies, and their powers can be enhanced by carefully selecting skills and allowing points on an extensive skill tree.

Shortly after its release, Outriders received mostly positive reviews thanks to its challenging combat that gets difficult as players reach higher World Tiers and a narrative that drives the experience forward. For players wondering how long Outriders' main campaign lasts, it's been reported that players can finish the Outriders story in about 40 hours, depending on whether they go through the game alone or with a couple of friends.

However, the Outriders experience doesn't end with the main story, given that a post-campaign called the Expeditions is immediately available after beating the game. Expeditions are only reserved for the strongest Outriders, given that its missions pit players against the deadliest enemies Enoch has to offer. Given this, players are recommended to gear up with rare loot and armor before delving into The Expeditions.

Outriders is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
