One of the many constants in life is the human nature for, as the scientists probably call it, "messing with each other." Whether between two friends or, indeed, a celebrity and their fans, it's always a fun little event to distract from the ever agonizing wait for, among other things, the highly-anticipated DC film Black Adam.
That may be why Dwayne Johnson, in a rather deceptively cheeky Instagram post, decided to grace eager fans with just the most minuscule glimpse at his outfit for the upcoming superhero film. While fans have created and presented mock-ups of what they think the eye-popping black and gold suit will look like on Johnson, there hasn't been any actual decent look at the official design just yet. Clearly aware of how hungry people are for new info, Johnson obliged in a hilariously troll-worthy way.

In a seemingly unrelated post plugging Johnson's own brand of energy drinks, he slipped in a little Easter egg right at the end that many fans will probably just skim right past. Accompanying a pair of images featuring the world's highest paid actor in front of his computer, Johnson added in a little P.S. drawing attention to something most wouldn't have noticed. "and if you swipe left and ZOOM IN, you’ll see a small piece of my GOLD BLACK ADAM [lightning bolt design] peeking out from under my black cloak of secrecy," he tacked on, explaining that his meetings for ZOA Energy tend to take place during his short breaks from filming the movie.
True to his word, there is indeed the tiniest flash of gold right at his neckline in the second picture. Unfortunately, that seems to be all fans will get for now aside from a similarly ambiguous set photo. It would be funny to assume that Johnson planned this intentionally in order to have a bit of a laugh with his fans, as is tradition. But it might even be funnier in the incredibly plausible event that he actually didn't realize his costume was peeking through and just decided to run with it.
Whatever the intention, it seems as though the ever patient fans will continue to be drip fed information about Black Adam leading up to its release. The DC Comics character himself is certainly interesting enough to warrant some curiosity, starting off as the nemesis of Shazam (formerly known as Captain Marvel before some rather predictable drama with Marvel Comics) before eventually being rebranded as an antihero looking to fix his reputation.
Hopefully Johnson or someone else involved sees fit to throw moviegoers a bone soon and gives the outfit a proper reveal. But even if fans have to wait until the movie itself comes out, it's oddly comforting to know its star has a good sense of humor about it all. Looks like Ryan Reynolds isn't the only one who can take a joke in stride.
Black Adam is set to release July 29th, 2022.
