Fallout 76's Legendary Crafting system is currently being playtested on Public Test Servers, and Bethesda wants players to suggest improvements.

Fallout 76's upcoming Steel Reign update will be adding a new Legendary weapon crafting feature to the game, and fans who signed up for the MMORPG's Public Test Server (PTS) have reported mixed feelings about it. Fortunately, it appears that Bethesda Game Studios will be following these discussions and making improvements in future Fallout 76 PTS updates.

The latest Inside the Vault blog post makes it clear that the Legendary weapon crafting system is still in very early playtesting, and is expected to undergo some significant change as player feedback comes in. According to the Fallout 76 Cold Steel Roadmap, the Steel Reign update will arrive in July, so the devs have some time to focus on polish. In the meantime, Bethesda is requesting players give as much feedback on Legendary Crafting, and everything else coming in the Steel Reign update, as possible.

There's been a lot of community conversation about Legendary Crafting and the improvements players would like to see, such as core drop rates, scrip costs, and randomized weapon stat re-rolls. Some of the changes Bethesda is considering include adjusting the drop rates of some Legendary cores and permanently increasing the Legendary scrip limit. This should allow players to gather components for Legendary Crafting more easily, which means more Legendary weapons being crafted. With any luck, the Steel Reign update will build on the previous Cold Steel updates, including the recent Locked and Loaded update, to make Fallout 76 more engaging than ever.

The Steel Reign update will also bring the Steel Reign questline, a new vendor named Minerva, and legendary balance changes to Fallout 76. Bethesda is also showing its appreciation for PTS players by handing out special Pennants they can display in their C.A.M.P. These two new Pennants allow players to show where their loyalties lie by choosing between Paladin Rahmani or Knight Shin, just as they did in the Steel Dawn expansion. There's no new information about the possibility of Brotherhood of Steel Expeditions allowing Fallout 76 players to visit Washington, D.C. yet, however.

Hopefully, most of the community's comments and complaints about Legendary Crafting will be resolved by the time the next PTS update is released. Bethesda hasn't specified how much the drop rates and scrip limits will be altered, but the company's willingness to request more feedback bodes well. Gamers who want something to do while they wait might consider looking into some of Fallout 76's rarest encounters.

Fallout 76 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
