Scavengers offers players a number of distinct classes to choose from. Each has their ups and downs, but which is the best of the bunch?

In Scavengers, the world becomes an unforgiving frozen wasteland after an asteroid shattered the Moon and brought a virus to Earth. The game pits squads of three against more than just an enemy squad. Bboth teams face an endless swath of frozen horrors known as the Scourge while pursuing various objectives. With Mother, the AI protecting Earth's last remaining home, players become equipped with gear specifically designed to combat these new enemies.

At its core, classes in Scavengers become separated into Explorers. Explorers each have unique skillsets and weapons designed to outlast their enemies — at least, theoretically. It's up to players to help these Explorers meet their utmost potential. Just which Explorers dominate the rest?

7 Jae: Outback Bladesman

Players who appreciate a solid defense will love Jae's toolkit. He can get in places with guns blazing and provide adequate protection for himself, allowing him to soak damage as needed. Likewise, his skillful handling of his blade allows him to break formations, opening opportunities for his allies to rush in and kill a scrambled enemy force.

Class Weapon: Maverick (Halberd)

True to his old-fashioned training, Jae relies on the trusty weight of his Maverick to punish opponents. He can modify the Maverick to accommodate combat styles. In addition to a standard heavy lunge, other models incorporate a sleeker moveset for faster skirmishes, or more neutral combos for a more balanced playstyle.

Class Ability: Overshield

In line with his nature, Jae's Overshield gives him the necessary protection to face opponents up close. He triggers this ability by deploying a timed yellow shield, boosting his overall defenses against both ranged and melee fighters.

6 Tarik: Tactical Sniper

Players will appreciate Tarik if they want a solid sniper on their team. His marksman rifle can pick off targets from afar, while his traps can disable people who try to catch him off-guard.

Class Weapon: Longstriker (Marksman Rifle)

Snipers need a dependable rifle to take to battle, and Longstriker has always been Tarik's companion. Tarik can modify Longstriker to accommodate various modes. For instance, he can fit Longstriker with a variety of scopes to help him deal with various long-ranged situations. He can also transform Longstriker into a hybrid assault rifle to take down foes in mid-range if necessary.

Class Ability: Stun Trap

As a sniper, Tarik has the first glance of what happens in the battlefield, and his Stun Trap equips him with the means to manipulate engagements to his favor. With the Stun Trap, this throwable object stuns and slows down enemies caught in its blast radius. This gives Tarik enough time to pick off enemies or run away.

5 Letty: Tech Support

Players will like Letty if they appreciate a debuff role, especially a hero that disables Explorers in a gadget-reliant economy. If players get to capitalize on Letty's deadly hand cannon, she makes for a lethal combatant up close and in mid range.

Class Weapon: Rosie (Hand Cannon)

It's always satisfying hearing the sound of an enemy falling in front of the business end of a hand cannon, and that's what Rosie does for Letty. Moreover, Letty can transform Rosie into the Sledgehammer, giving its projectiles an explosive kick albeit with a slower speed. Alternatively, the Vendetta Variant can boost the chance of triggering shield regeneration for nearby allies whenever she hits an enemy.

Class Ability: EMP Blast

Letty truly shines amongst her fellow techies, especially in the enemy ranks. With her class ability, Letty releases a blast that disables electrical devices near her, rendering enemy abilities and vehicles useless for a duration.

4 Cruz: Lethal Speedster

Players will love Cruz for his straightforward mechanics, which always involves capitalizing on his speed. Cruz can rush to battle guns blazing and retreat just as quick, making for the perfect distraction in the midst of a fight.

Class Weapon: Cazador (SMG)

Cruz needs a weapon to match his penchant for speed, and the Cazador meets his needs. The Cazador offers two primary modifications. Firstly, Cruz can give Cazador extended rounds for longer firefights. This boosts his firing rate, increasing his damage up close. He can also give the Cazador an extended scope, making for balanced play in mid-range.

Class Ability: Tailwind

As his specialization suggests, Tailwind gives Cruz an unbelievable boost in speed. This allows him to zig-zag through the tundra as though it were a racing track, allowing him to reach points faster. Moreover, Tailwind can give his allies their own speed boost. In turn, Cruz and his Tailwind can become the perfect ingredients for a more aggressive squad.

3 Valora: Rebel Defender

Players will love Valora if they're looking for a defensive character who can get straight to the frontlines, without compromising the team's position. Her class ability provides adequate defense while forcing the enemy back, while her weapon is a force to be reckoned with once Valora gets up close and personal.

Class Weapon: Devastator (Shotgun)

What better way to obliterate enemies up close than with a trusty shotgun? Devastator serves its duty properly as Valora's handy protector. Moreover, Valora can extend Devastator's magazine to provide more opportunities to turn the tide of battle in a heated firefight. Likewise, she can give her Devastator a truly-devastating bullet with a slug projectile to obliterate opponents in single shot bursts.

Class Ability: Aegis Shield

Aegis Shield is what makes Valora shine — almost literally. When Valora deploys her Aegis Shield, it creates a stationary energy sphere that protects everyone inside from outbound attacks. However, the Aegis Shield is special in that it allows people from the inside to return fire. In turn, Valora and her allies can get a few seconds of breathing room to fire at will before having to retreat.

2 Halden: Scoundrel Survivalist

Players who want a good support hero will appreciate Halden and his abilities. Halden can get to an ally in a jiffy if they need a bit of healing, but still provide enough suppressive fire to take on enemies himself. Halden proves that healers aren't pushovers. It's outright deadly to get in between his crosshairs.

Class Weapon: Strike Rifle (Assault Rifle)

This assault rifle is one of the most versatile in the Explorer's arsenal. Halden can customize the Strike Rifle with two modules. First, he can load the Strike Rifle with explosive ammunition to provide much-needed punch in clutch situations. Likewise, Halden can transform the Strike Rifle into a marksman rifle if he needs to take down enemies from afar.

Class Ability: Curative Aura

Halden enters battle with Keeper, his trusty drone. When he activates Keeper, Halden extends a green healing aura across an area of effect that regenerates the health of teammates inside its sphere. Keeper can instantly revive allies who are downed, provided they're within his healing AOE. With this in mind, Halden may have the means to turn a losing battle into a winning one with this ability alone.

1 Kali: Stealth Archer

Players will appreciate Kali for her penchant for stealth, which always has its benefits in a survival game. Kali can flank enemies in a quick assault, or even sneak for the objective while her opponents are distracted. She makes a perfect scout, capable of marking targets from afar and escaping if necessary.

Class Weapon: Heartseeker (Bow)

Unlike other weapons, Heartseeker is almost completely silent, and its quick-shot nature offers two primary modifications. Firstly, Kali can increase its total projectile count, allowing her to increase her damage output with multiple arrows per shot for more aggressive combat. Meanwhile, Kali can also equip an attachment to give Heartseeker a lock-on capability, perfect for precise shooting.

Class Ability: Active Camo

As a Stealth Archer, Kali has the means to stay hidden with Active Camo. With this Class Ability, Kali's cloak hides her position and she can only use melee weapons for quick and silent takedowns. Active Camo lasts until she shoots with the Heartseeker, which reveals her for a short duration.
