New benchmark tests of Nvidia's rumored GeForce RTX 3080 20GB appear online, showing some incredible statistics for the unconfirmed GPU.

Nvidia continues to hold one of the top spots for graphic fidelity and GPU capabilities with the GeForce RTX 30 series, composed of the 3060 through the 3090. However, rumors have been floating around for a few months now that the hardware developer has been working on a graphics card that situates itself between the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090, the two top billed products in the series.

The leaks and rumors have labeled this item either the RTX 3080 Ti, or the 20GB RTX 3080, both of which follow some of the naming conventions that Nvidia has used before. While the company still hasn't made any official announcements about the new piece of hardware, it would seem that some system tests of something claiming to be this rumored graphics card have started to appear online.

A new benchmark test, supposedly run with Time Spy, has appeared that claims to have measured the limits of this RTX 3080 Ti, which some PC fans have taken as proof that the product exists. These tests appear to identify the new graphics card as the RTX 3080 20G, which implies that this item has the same power as a RTX 3080, but with double the memory size in order to better utilize the graphic card's output. The result could be an RTX 3080 that can run games like The Medium at a steady 60 FPS, something that the current GPU isn't able to due with some of the more complex Next-Gen titles.

If these tests can be believed, the RTX 3080 20GB appears to be within striking distance of reaching the same output as the current most powerful graphics card that Nvidia currently offers. In fact, the Time Spy and Time Spy Extreme shows the loss of power between the RTX 3080 20GB and the RTX 3090 is less then two percent at the highest, and under a single percent at the most extreme conditions. That would make the RTX 3080 20GB rival the absolute strongest graphics cards on the market today, and could mean that the same memory optimization could push the RTX 3090 even further.

Now, it should be noted that none of this has been confirmed by Nvidia yet, so even with the types of specific specs fans have available now, the RTX 3080 20GB should still be considered a rumor. This could be a test spec that was never meant for market, or that will be the start of a whole new upgraded section of the GeForce RTX 30 Series as a whole. However, if a simple increase in memory can cause this kind of boost for the RTX 3080, then this might mean either big news coming out of Nvidia soon, or massive improvements coming from the hardware modding community.

The GeForce RTX 30 Series is available now from most tech retailers as supplies last.
